  1. Says Tony with his thumbs in his ears, fingers waving, saying nanny nanny nanny!!!!!! Good post Tony.
  2. McStealth: 200k or less. Preferably staying under 175k. Charlie: Thank you for all the info. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain all of that. I would really like to have FIKI even though I have zero interest in flying that way. I would just like to have it for the "just in case" scenarios. Thank you so much for your insight, I'm sure that I will have many more questions down the road. Thanks again. http://mooneypilots.com/classifieds/jan_2016_classifieds.htm There are a couple of birds to look at on the MAPA classified that fit your needs. If I was spending your money, It would be hard for me to pass the efficiency and ability of the Encore (252) It fits your budget with wiggle room, has enough performance to satisfy your needs, and you can find these birds with low TT with lots of goodies in the panel (as you can also with the 305 and Bravo obviously) Will a 252 cost less to maintain? "Possibly" Can it get most of the goodies a Bravo can? "Mostly" Can it be just as good a "cross county traveler" per your requirements as a Rocket or Bravo for two passengers and baggage without a time table? Absoulutely. My Humble opinion. David
  3. The last time you had the cowl off, was there any of these signs?
  4. What is the budget?
  5. Which side of the engineer fence do you lay on? Good to know we have another factory guy (and girl) around. welcome to the forum
  6. Damn Lance, you have a condition. Sorry I didn't win the lottery. I would have bought it.
  7. Welcome to the forum. Hope this won't be your only instance. the airspeed lost with TKS, in the overall real world time lost in the air, is negligible. I bet the time from point A to B in a two hundred mile trip is under 10 minutes. The choice for an O3 to be a Primary trainer, would be a concern to me. You say "early in his flying career". I would consider a different plane for the son if "early" means primary training. I'm sure you know this already so please don't think I am trying to insult anyone's intelligence. The O3 is a very capable single with most having 1000 lbs useful. Performance is not an issue. As with any plane purchase, ABS is a question that needs to be asked. If you want more performance, find a Liquid Rocket conversion. good luck. df
  8. Welcome to the discussion. A few unspoken rules. Don't feed the animals ( you will figure out who they are ) Don't get on Marauders bad side!!!!!!! dont hold back any Mooney question you may have. This forum most likely has more Mooney real world knowledge than anywhere else. oh, and don't be a lurker.
  9. What break in procedures are they recommending ?
  10. Ha! Go Broncos!
  11. The sword fight in the last James Bond by Pierce Brosnan, Die Another Day, has an awesome sword fight.
  12. Congratulations.
  13. What panels are you referring?
  14. Welcome to the Forum. Hope you stick around for awhile. Good luck on setting up a partnership journey.
  15. Welcome to the Forum.
  16. Cannot help you, but welcome to the forum. Well, posting on the forum :-)
  17. Just interested
  18. An AT&T fiber optic line was severed. It affected mobile and land lines. Sprint mobile was not affected. DF
  19. Congratulations. Hope you find a good buyer. Thank you as a fan of Mooney for resurrecting a bird that could have ended in the salvage yard. Have you weighed it yet? Did you get an increase or decrease in UL? Did your CG move?
  20. I have talked to three different Mooney shirts, randomly met in town between Dec. and now, and asked each as to when the "press release" will happen. One immediately said "January." That happened before Christmas. One other was right after new years. She was more coy, but after a little talking, she let off with "first of the year". The last one, yesterday, was also coy, but he smiled and said "soon." I will take it all with a grain of salt and will believe it when I see it. Don't hammer me please. Just passing along what I have heard. I do know, if I win tomorrow, I'm going to buy the first five off the assembly line, donate four to different aviation colleges, and fly the heck out of the other.
  21. Why can you resurrect in a half hour a Briggs & Stratton engine that sat dormant for 30 years? Why do 70s era motorcycles stay dead unless meticulously rebuilt? How can they find a 60's Chevy in a barn, and drive them away? How can........ I do not believe there will be one particular answer. Yes oil blockage, yes carbon, yes coking, yes metallurgy, yes engineering architecture, yes aliens exist, no aliens don't exist. I tend to feel owner operation has as much to do with it as anything. I feel temp control is a giant factor. You overheat anything enough times, something, everything will be affected. I re-ringed my two stroke machines after three heat cycles sometimes because the performance was degragaded enought to warrant it. I know how hot they got and could tell I needed rings. As for rust on cams and lifter because of non use? I don't know? Why is it that lawn mower engines can be started after 30 years of dormancy?
  22. Welcome to the Forums
  23. congratulations and good luck. DF
  24. Did you get a "feel" for the play on the new turbo? I make the assumption you have enough tactile feel with the magnet to know if you have excess play in the turbo. What is too much play? Is there a spec for "play" in the impeller? Is it more of a common sense kind of thing?
