  1. I did not serve but I tried. I was in a competition labeled "High school to flight school". An army initiative for flying helicopters. I didn't make the final cut, got mad and went to college Dad was a tank driver. In-laws were navy, ex father in law a big wig in the Air Force. Maybe I can get USAA?
  2. You guys spell words funny.
  3. Good luck and welcome to the site., At this point, the engine is a roll of the dice. Some on this site have had minimal issues with this exact scenario, others have been less than lucky. If you get 100 or more hours, hurray. 500? Dance a jig. If you have already addressed this issue in price with the seller, then so-be-it. That decision is/has already been made and you move on to other decisions. Any in your group an A/P? That sure would help good luck. David
  4. Which engine is it that you have? Buy the Ray Jay that is for sale on this site. You will have one of a kind. DF
  5. Don't Eagles have the most UL in our fleet? I think I remember seeing 1125# by someone here on the site. df
  6. That was my first thought, " what year did he say?" df
  7. It is one of those events that is; "cool, glad I did that" It is for sure something you don't see everyday, and the early morning mass lift off is impressive. The nigh time light up the sky is also impressive. Eight days, no. Two and a half days, sure. I drove in, yes it was a long line. Have a good time.
  8. Ask Maxwell or Dugosh who they recommend.
  9. Wonder if it is the same member that has had one for sale here on the site? df
  10. I was watching a documentary on the Concord last night. Showing a panoramic view of the Smithsonian, there is a Mooney hanging from the ceiling close to the Concord. I could not make out which model it is. I'm sure someone here knows. it is on my list of things to do, go to the Air and Space museum. I think I would really enjoy it. David
  11. I take it a buliten won't have a price associated with it. Wonder if Dugosh has a price worked up?
  12. Damn. Only $75,000 laugh or cry, or both... Damn.
  13. You are right Alan. I usually am the Welcome voice (as well as many others), but forgot my manners on this one. Sorry Mr Hoover. Hope the plane sells. David
  14. How long will she run before a top end will be needed? No ABDS. Neglected for nine plus years means all its systems will need to be thoroughly vetted. Can you say $10,000 annual for two, three, four years? This is off the top of my head. Cliff. Do you have any panel pictures? What kind of engine management for the last 10 yrs? Cliff, are you the seller? A definate candidate for the Encore upgrade is a plus, if the purchase price is right. df
  15. Better than disenginues ink.
  16. Anyone headed to Reno this year? I have never been and would like to go. Anyone near me that is flying? We could team up. David
  17. My sources don't know much, yet. Maybe I will get something soon. DF
  18. Junction is a non issue for any Model Mooney. Hondo would most likely have a lower price on fuel. Neither has much in the way of FBO facilities though Hondo is better than Junction. David
  19. Fuel measurements are accomplished the same way, by inflating or deflating a main tire, to where the wings are level, and then fuel is added by weight and recorded. df
  20. Asked my source about this. Each plane is weighed individually. There are three scales embedded into the floor. The nose scale is lower than the mains scale. The plane is rolled onto the scales and a large straight level is placed on two previously installed engineering mounts, that are at the calculated center of the airplane. The plane is then made to simulate straight and level flight. They accomplish this by either inflating or deflating the front tire. All three weights on each tire are then collected and a baseline W & B is established before painting, and then again after painting and all equipment is installed. Planes equipped the same are usually within 2-4 lbs of each other, and said it was because of the paint. DF
  21. I talked to a Mooney guy the other day. With direct knowledge of the question, he said that the new Mooney's come back from the paint shop weighing 50 lbs more than before they flew to the paint shop. The spread is between 2-4 lbs between planes curiously. I'm sure a lot of you guys already know this fact. I wonder what the weight difference was with some of you guys that did a strip and repaint? Thanks David
  22. Welcome to the forum. GO ENCORE! DF
