  1. Hope everyone has many happy and safe flying hours this year. Wishing all of GA a very Happy New Year. David
  2. The title says it all. I have to admit this is the first time I read a full NTSB report and not just the cliff note version you see on WEB sites. http://www.ntsb.gov/_layouts/ntsb.aviation/brief2.aspx?ev_id=20120825X85310&ntsbno=CEN12FA570&akey=1 I guess I am mad and sad. Why the hell do you disconnect a stall horn? He was not feeling well the night before the flight. He ate with us at the steak house that evening and I could tell he was feeling not so well, and I totally believe they found Benadryl in his system. Enough to impair him, who knows? I know how he preached airspeed on final. How the hell did that happen? I don't know what a Grumman Tiger flies like but when you are that low, you can't stall worthy slow in any airplane. Anyway. df
  3. Patience is the word of the day and don't be discouraged. Good luck. PM Lancecasper on this board. He may have Jimmy's direct line. DF
  4. I bet they are out on Christmas and New Years holiday. Seems odd that anyone in sales has their phone off to potential buyers. Lance, do you have Jimmy's direct line? DF
  5. The door to door time difference between the two machines Would be negligible. Both haul ass. There is a nice looking 262 listed on this forum. a 252 can be upgraded to an Encoure for many AMU's, a 231 can not (as taught to me by KSMooniac). The 252 has the least useful load in the fleet. They both have the auto waste gates and MB engines believe. If you really want the "better" performance and UL, step up to the Encore if budget allows. DF
  6. Still in the market?
  7. What Steve is describing above, is what is lacking in todays newish mechanics and their thoughts. Remove and replace, is the norm today, other than diagnose, and repair.
  8. "O" "O2" "O3"
  9. What was the final word on the TKS? Were the membranes dried out to the point they wouldn't flow? df
  10. Mustang
  11. GSXR (750 is my favorite) beat me to it. I was just about to wax poetic about a modded out C. df
  12. Question I forgot to ask. Does the Mod Squad conversion give the useful load of an Encore? DF
  13. Steve, welcome to the forum and good luck on your sale. You have quite a machine that should appeal to many. I noticed you don't have a price posted. I would recommend you add one for this site. You have probably the largest collection of Mooney knowledge, anywhere, located on this forum and most would help you with your sale. Without a price, it is open to interpretation. My Opinion only David
  14. This is an accomplishment. I bet you know your plane backwards, forwards, up and down. Congratulations. DF
  15. Sorry to be a little slow, Merry Christmas to all of you. May I go forward in his sight. DF
  16. Wet Wing, Bladders, Re-seal, doughnuts, pushrods, ground affect,
  17. This to me sounds like a master cylinder issue. Yes you can have glazed over pads, but even then if you stand on the brakes, you should be able to lock them up. If you have good firm pressure, with no squishy air in the lines feeling, the master cylinder would be one of my prime suspects. Yes again about the glazed over brakes pads. They can feel the same as a partially working master cylinder. On organic pads, a glazed pad is recognizable enough. I cannot say for metallic pads but would assume they are easily spotted. Anyone know the specs for the brake system?
  18. Welcome to the forum.
  19. I have owned or used maybe 10 different safety wire pliers. All during my racing career. Not one do I think were reversible. Thanks for the knowledge. df
  20. For my current Mission, an RV-10 If a higher budget, TBM
  21. Did I miss how old the young ones are? I guess that would be a large determining factor. Divorce drecrees can have a no GA clause. I assume that is not an issue? All girls. I bet it would be few and far between the number of times you get all three in the plane at the same time. If you have speed brakes, long range tanks, and FIKI, you do not have 1000 lbs UL in a Bravo (nor a 252 or Encore, Ovation 1-3, and Acclaim) The girls most likely will like brand B if all three are present all the time, as the perception and reality of cubic space makes the decision for you. Never show them brand B and you don't fight that problem You will like both brands as you seem the type that appreciates what is good about the design. Random thoughts by David
