  1. unless the boots are really damaged, then a bike patch kit may work, i uhmm heard. 8)
  2. just myo, Mooney should automate as much as possible, hand-built is for 1950 not 2020. Bring back the "E", absolute best model Mooney ever made, everything else is just second 8)
  3. Sounds like a great Christmas present. Stop by KDWH to show her off after she's done 8)
  4. Is the Autopilot version required, looking at it that interface seems to be for older analog autopilots not the gfc 500
  5. Our garmin watches take about an hour to go from dead to fully charged. Wish they werent so expensive I’d really like to upgrade to one with o2. Oh yea. Integration with my bicycle cadence sensors is awesome. The find my phone feature is indispensable
  6. Mainly due to better battery life, the Garmin watches have been perfect for us. We tend to get a weeks worth of usage between charges even with pretty heavy use. along with flying, we track daily workouts, sleep quality, heart rate, steps, calories, blah blah blah. I wear the D2 Charlie while my wife rocks the Fenix 5s; essentially the same watch with different software. If you don't need aviation maps, i'd recommend the Fenix due to it being a good deal cheaper. also the new one has pulse ox. The IWatches ended up in the back of the drawer after about 2 mos, having to charge daily just doesnt' work for us.
  7. Send her to school for a degree in something other than aviation, while at the same time getting her commercial as part 61.
  8. I tend to fly the Diamond DA62 or the Bonanza but every so often i'll pull out the non g1000 172, really wish there was a Mooney 8). realism is on high, graphics are mostly high but i only run at a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Framerates tend to run between 20 and 35 fps. Hoping to build a new rig soon, would really like 2560x1440 at a consistent 40 or 50 fps What also really helped, I hacked together some software which allows the msfs2020 to work with Garmin Pilot, allowing me to simulate most of what happens in the real plane.
  9. Today was my post annual checkout flight, learned a few things. 1. check everything after the annual, mx are people too. found a lot of missing interior panel screws, looks like they just missed putting them back in. 2. new Tires make all the difference. its amazing how much less power it takes to taxi or even move the plane about by hand, also my landing shimmy is gone. glad mx pushed me on this one. 3. check EVERYTHING after annual, sat for 5 mins at the edge of the runway trying to get clearance to take off, only after tower "suggested" I switch radios did i figure out that maybe turning up the radio would help. note the tower suggestion was in that "omg you're an idiot tone". By chance, msfs 2020 was released as my plane went to annual. with nothing better to do, i spent approx 15-20 hrs flying ifr to my planned real life destinations. Just gonna say wow, It was amazing how much better I performed in the real plane, scan was improved, stayed further ahead of the plane, barely any deviance from alt/heading. just wow. also thanks to @MBDiagMan, my Brittain is back to 100% and tracking like it was on rails.
  10. Yes, LOP existed before engine monitors and Gami injectors.
  11. OMG, havent' you been listening to Fauci, wear a MASK.... 8) I had a similar problem until i figured out my pulse ox wasn't reading correctly. Purchased a new one problem solved.
  12. I have both a garmin gdl39 3d and a stratus 2 in Birdy, both are hardwired to the plane with external antennae. never an issue, works great. Actually, i never use the stratus as i don't have foreflight, might upgrade to a stratus 3i one of these days.
  13. Note, until the latest Garmin pilot update for apple, i preferred using the android version; app layout and navigation just felt better.
  14. It's a pay app but Garmin Pilot is great on android. It isn't feature for feature with the Apple version but it's close enough.
  15. take the current model, add this continental diesel, done. faster, longer range and fadec. maybe find a way to make it less expensive.
  16. I'm a diamond fan, got my license in a da20, spent lots of avgas in a da40 and would love a DA62. But, i'm really not understanding the DA50rg. Why release the plane plane with so many minuses compared to it's competitor. less range, speed and probably a higher cost. Of course it'll cost more to insure. only win is lower fuel cost. Am i missing something? that being said, if i had enough cash i'd probably buy one
  17. If you are in a position to become an owner, YES.
  18. Survived the weekend without Birdie by fling kdwh-kord-kind-kdtw-cycz-kiag-kpwm-kbos-kjfk in MSFS2020. Not even a pale substitute but man it has potentional. Hope the MS team continues to flesh it out.
  19. Woot, just found a welding supply shop close to me that not only has "Industrial" oxygen but also "Medical" And "Aviation", cost me 15$ to refill
  20. More stories please, my girl is in for annual. Think i'm going thru withdrawal
  21. Yes, stays within the green arc. The mechanic seems to think the fuel pressure should vary a bit more and is suspect of the gauge.
  22. Hello Mooneyspace, my mechanics noticed the fuel pressure for my mooney rarely budges from approx 25psi; only changes when off or the electric fuel pump is on( 27 psi ). is this the correct behavior? I've always assumed it was normal.
  23. man, Radioisotope generators in an airplane, hmmm.
  24. This is my experience, with front passengers and no baggage, I def trend toward the forward CG. I've started carrying extra tools and such in the baggage compartment just to push the cg back.
