  1. I think, as @bluehighwayflyer has mentioned, buyers try to find the best maintained/upgraded plane and fly on the sellers “investment” for awhile. I feel that the 55’s are hard to sell, have reasonable wet rate for a twin, and previous owners that can afford great maintenance and lots of upgrades. This IMO sets the stage for very reasonable flying for the new buyer.
  2. I have the 830 in my C that I find very useful. Mine has the oil pressure, oil temp, FF, OAT, IAT, TIT, tach, and mp sensors. The TIT and IAT are needed for mine because of the turbo. I use my unit as my primary (meaning I reference it first) even though it is not certified as such. However, all of my true primary gauges are installed and working properly. If you go the 900 route I’d splurge for the tank gauge and the fuel pressure just so you can get rid of the fuel past the firewall and clean up the panel.
  3. The knowledge base here is amazing. From the MX individuals as well as owners who are willing to to help in any way they can. I’m glad you found an aspen screen to complete your kit.
  4. I’m in the process of reviving a Samsung Q1 to be used for my 430w updates and at the airport JPI analysis. I always forget to pull the card/downoad the data until I’m halfway home.
  5. I think you will find any upgrade will be considerably more expensive to own and operate. Too many unknowns going forward regarding fuel prices and maintenance costs. In the end I might buy one more plane in the next 30 years. It will probably be an Ovation or Bravo depending on how addicted I get to the turbo. If you are working towards three women in the house you will need all the extra spending money you can get.
  6. Fuel valve open with pressure building with the boost pump? Crank for 2 seconds and let the key go not working? There is some variation in starter switches and the number of connectors they have in back. You need to make sure both the SOS and starter are getting power when you push in the key.
  7. THIS might be an option for you.
  8. If I moved to a place like that I’d really like the warbirds et al to continue for years to come. Not have a Cirrus parking lot with a runway in the middle as the park “turns over” with new pilots.
  9. You’re being sarcastic right? Using the roll out joke of the century ki300 as an example? It’s coming up on its three year anniversary this summer...
  10. @Yooper Rocketman what would you say the average age is for residents of Spruce Creek? I’m continuing to look for a second home (airpark) and I find myself drawn to that area.
  11. Sounds like you need another project this summer or a backup plane?
  12. 300 hrs in 14 months, nice work! Sorry to hear about the engine troubles, I didn’t realize it could take that long to make metal after sitting.
  13. You talked to a sales rep, I talked to the person that designs/codes them in person. He told me all I needed to know. My uncle worked for GM as a Plant manger. He would find out about new cars 2 weeks after the rest of the world did.
  14. @Raptor05121 Today I paid attention to the JPI oil tem in my C model. Stayed between 183 and 186 degrees in cruise with an OAT of 50.
  15. This is from memory. 7 inch display w/SV unlock $16k 43e w/ required unlock $5k Aspen pro with SV unlock $9800-10800 EA100 $2700 no unlock required All of the above are retail prices. Most dealers were providing a 10-13% discount off the above prices Every shop I called (10+ shops) had double the amount of hours to install the older G500 vs a single aspen display. The 7 inch unit will also need a new panel (2-3k?). It does not come with any type of battery backup. My guess is the above two systems will have a huge install cost delta between them. If I was going to spend the premium a 10 inch txi would be purchased.
  16. Mine stays consistently in the 190 ish range. I normally take off when it reaches 130. I would pull the probe and boil it in water to see how accurate it is.
  17. Material cost? No. I think the 15k prop was about 8k when it was released 10 years ago. More likely they need to extra income to offset the three TBM’s they have flying around. I don’t have a problem with an aviation company doing well but don’t play the material cost card.
  18. Most people use the EI MP gauge LINk
  19. Installs for the new 500 txi are in the $40k region with the gfc600 tacking on another 20k. There will always be a market for the aspen for half the cost. If they use the new FAA back door certification they could probably certify a new processor board and display in 1/10 the time Dynon will take to certify. The question is not if they will, the question is how aggressive the pricing and features will be. All the hardware is already being sold in the vfr unit for 4-5k so it would not be hard to provide upgrades or new units for a very competitive price. The company might even team up with an AP company to provide simplified installation/reduced cost or provide the adsb in/out box for free to hold/gain market share. People go on and on about the graphics being obsolete. Please.... $500 worth of parts and you can play COD at 100 FPS on the same screen that is shooting an LPV to minimums.
  20. Well I have a seven day timer that turns on and off my heater in the winter. Probably should do a time lapse of that.
  21. @kortopates The first article talks about 25 squared and how it can be damaging to the engine. I noticed in the example given all the pressures look good on the pulled back curve with his only complaint being high EGT readings. However, the data was given for pulling throttle only not T/P to 25 squared. From the other graphs it looks like reducing the RPM should move the peak towards the 18 degree ideal and lower EGT’s and CHT’s. To me the data reinforces the advantage of climbing at 25/2500*. *My plane is probably a special case because I can’t keep CHT’s under 380 at WOT/2700 with my fixed jet and my turbo stc specifies 25 squared as an acceptable power setting up to 25k.
  22. By the time you get a nice waas gps you’ll be back to that 40k plus region.
  23. I would think an overhaul from a good shop would be within a 10k spread from 252 to bravo. Both very expensive when you get all new / rebuilt accessories etc. I do agree about the extra 4-5 gph adding up.
  24. I would start with copying the removable ovation exhaust shrouds. They have a half canopy shape to them that probably produce a lot of vacuum. Enough to keep 310 horses cool.
  25. I have the 8000bt and have spent a lot of time using the 340. IMO the 8000 is far superior for about the same outlay. I have my phone connected to provide alerts through FF and music via Spotify.
