  1. Wished I could have met up with the crew. Noticed the post a little late, bummer as I was camping 100 yards from the restaurant.
  2. I’m getting mixed signals from you... you say don’t tell the wife but then call out a fellow Mooney brother that slipped in a new panel.
  3. I really like working with Chase but I have to say Derek is SO helpful (and a straight shooter) on BT I would do business with him if I could.
  4. The difference between the 700 display and the 730 is very important IMO. The larger display is so much easier to read during busy times (TO) and you can make adjustments before reaching temps. All the temperatures are displayed instead of cycling through the list each time. I’m Im going to go against the normal recommend 900 and suggest buying the 4 cyl 730 model. Buy the FF option (unless you already have it) and hook it into your current sensors. I’m not sure if a egt probe is the same part number as the TIT probe but you might be able to use one of your extra new probes to monitor that. One huge negative of the 900 is the inability to change the limits on certain parameters. I feel like taping over the stupid caution light as it goes nuts on every TO.
  5. More pictures if you can but it looks great to me. Big update for minimal cost. Painted or vinyl wrap/stripe?
  6. Really just passing on some info I read about on BT. The technology that allows the receiver to sense the squawk code (to allow remote installation) was stolen from Garmin who already had a patient on the technology. Garmin is a powerful and calculating company, I don’t feel they would make an allegation like this unless it had merit. Patient
  7. UAvionix might have some trouble with some the technology it allegedly borrowed from Garmin...
  8. Just call up Don or Lazar, they will have both parts for locking the outer casing and inner wire. If the wire slips/breaks it can easily vibrate closed. Not a place to use just a random bolt / screw imo. Only a few $ in parts from the vendors above.
  9. I found this information very helpful. Looks like the integration with aspen version 2.9.1 will be amazing. Also the install wiring is easier. One thing I haven’t noticed mentioned so far is if you don’t have an EFIS (esi500 and sam included) you will need to buy a $3k air/data computer (about the same cost as a g5). With the G500 system you get integrated VS selection vs the aspen giving you IAS control. I wish I could trade my warranty for a couple rebuilds on my servos. It would probably push me over the edge.
  10. I’m curious if members like @JohnB are getting similar TAS between the Aspen and TXI sitting side by side?
  11. With the WAAS upgrade costing what it does and the crazy high 430 non waas used values I think a new ifd440 is a better “investment”.
  12. The Aspen has a TAS display which some feel is slightly inaccurate...worlds better than “feel” IMO.
  13. I can say to jump from 148 to 158 will cost me another 4 gph and will lower my range to as far as I can throw a ball. The only hard data I can provide is you might save 2-3 hours on a long trip compared to an old “slow” Mooney but I’m still in the black with the 2,500 hrs I saved on the build. I’ve been looking hard for a nice already built 7 or 8. I haven’t found anything of quality under $100k yet. To get another two seats would probably double the cost. I’m starting a lease on another hanger this month, ideally an 8 like the one outside the Garmin OSH tent could fit inside.
  14. @N201MKTurbo I wonder if those rules of engagement would be the same for a fully loaded passenger aircraft vs a single pilot or small aircraft?
  15. Use your nav one with a dirt cheap BK cdi w/gs? I would think $2-300 would allow you to exchange the 206? for a 208.
  16. Hmmm, sounds like a good upgrade from a TN’d C model and TKS would be nice for MI... Any problems with cht’s on full power climbs to the FL’s?
  17. One just popped up on BT a few mins ago. $650 not sure if that’s a good deal or not.
  18. OSH ‘18 pic Try for a cheaper model that the chosen could upgrade for a fee?
  19. The part where it mutes our dear wives on a long trip...? I could see where that could come in handy. Are they working on a portable model that can be used in the car?
  20. I have used this method (after the fact) for both Jeppesen and Garmin. Both companies were very accommodating...
  21. I’d budget 12-15k depending on cylinder choice, other parts needed, and install costs. However, with a new top end you might be able to get well beyond the 2-2.2k TBO if everything else is well taken care of.
  22. 3-4 mins is normal for mine. You should ask@LANCECASPER he’s had one or two over the years.
  23. Can the g1000 utilize the esi500 as a backup with the way it was certified? The upgrade would be pretty steep at $5k plus and I’m not sure the visibility of the tapes would be ideal from that distance/angle. I know my aspen is very difficult to read from the copilot seat. Keep in mind the 4300 has no battery to maintain and a 7500 hr mtbf (although I’ve seen a few reman ones for sale already).
  24. Like @Antares said if this plane is new to you the AI might be functioning properly. We’ve had a lifesaver since new ~2k hrs now and it comes up a lot slower than an air driven, it’s done that since new.
  25. I think all of the Mooney g1000 backup AI’s are the non battery 4300 mid cont “lifesaver” AI’s.
