  1. WOW! Just, WOW!
  2. Rant on: We have a similar issue in Burlington, VT. People complaining about the noise. They didn't just put that airport up overnight. YOU BOUGHT OR BUILT A HOUSE NEXT TO AN AIRPORT! Did you think for one second that it wasn't going be loud? Rant off: I just think it's silly
  3. Braille might be a better solution with as easily visible as it is.
  4. That's AWESOME conduit. You could fit a ton more wires through that thing.
  5. There is something wrong with your Citabria. The tail is on the wrong way. Welcome to the forum.
  6. Has cig and audio cables. Not really sure what it's worth. Offers?
  7. @Antares YOU WIN!
  8. I flew in Florida for years without one. Never thought I needed one. Moved north, bought my Mooney. It had one installed and I thought about removing it to clear up panel space. Used it to dodge a few storms. Thought, why didn't I have one of these in Florida?
  9. If it is repaired correctly you might actually buy a airplane in better condition than it was when you first looked at it. :-) Keep us up on how it's going.
  10. I have a F in Rutland (KRUT) and caught a ride in the back of a E down to PA. I am 5'8". 160 and found the back seat close but comfortable. Staggered shoulders solve any issues up front. Think Porsche not Buick.
  11. Welcome to the northeast. It's another beautiful day KRUT 072024Z AUTO 17011KT 3/4SM -SN BR BKN009 OVC014 M04/M06 A2995 RMK AO2 CIG 007V013 P0000 FZRANO $
  12. Mooney fly-in for the Indy race?
  13. Very cool (hot) idea. I have a few suggestions. 1. Get some Explosafe foam or stainless filling for the fuel tank. 2. Look at the fuel bottles used for hiking. They can take the pressure of the fuel during transport. 3. Insulate and sleeve the duct. 4. Move the control unit into one of the covered areas in the lid of the toolbox. I'm very interested in what kind of run time you get out of it.
  14. I hadn't thought of getting some deicing fluid. I will check into that.
  15. HELP! My hanger door is frozen shut in ice and it will not go up. I managed to finally get the center pin loose by dumping a half bottle of rubbing alcohol down it and hitting it with a heat gun but the rubber seal on the bottom of the door is frozen into ice. I tried the heat gun on the bottom but it is re-freezing as fast as I can get it melted. Unheated hanger with no insulation Any ideas short of waiting until April?
  16. @bradp Jinx on you. Must have hit post at the same time.
  17. How much do you think it weighs? If you took it apart would if fit in a Mooney? Where in southern PA? Thanks TK
  18. I have a 66 172G with the O-300D in it. It is a fun airplane to go tour around locally but frustratingly slow when you are actually trying to get somewhere. However with the 40deg of flaps it gives you the opportunity to get out and do a walk around while you are on short final.
  19. I had a friend have the throttle cable come off during his commercial check ride. Crashed on the top of a building. Still passed his check ride. Better to happen on the ground.
  20. TMZ Sports has obtained Roy Halladay's autopsy report -- in which the coroner lists the cause of death as blunt trauma and drowning ... but points out the MLB star had morphine in his system. The 40-year-old died in a single passenger plane crash in the Gulf of Mexico back in November. As we previously reported, Halladay was flying in an erratic pattern shortly before the crash. The toxicology results show Halladay had zolpidem (the generic name for Ambien), as well as morphine in his system at the time of the crash. The tests also came back positive for amphetamines. One source familiar with the autopsy tells us the results are consistent with someone who uses Rx medication. One thing of note ... the FDA lists on its website that more than 50 ng/ml of zolpidem "appears capable of impairing driving to a degree that increases the risk of a motor vehicle accident." Halladay's blood tested positive for 72 ng/ml. The autopsy report notes that morphine can be found in the system as a result of heroin use -- however sources tell us there is no indication Halladay had been using heroin or any other "clandestine drug." The report also shows Hallday suffered a subdural hemorrhage in the crash -- along with multiple rib fractures and lung, liver and spleen injuries. He also had a leg fracture.
  21. One of my favorite CFIs would constantly fiddle with stuff in the airplane or otherwise do things to distract me while I was flying. Play with the radios, intercom, instruments, open sectionals fully or even just dig through his flight bag. He was worse than having a 3 year old in the airplane and when I first started flying with him it would drive me nuts. It did teach me to pay notice to what the guy in the right seat was doing but not to let it pull my attention from my primary task.
  22. I didn't know any of the backstory to Barry Seal and avoided it so I could watch the movie without second guessing the accuracy. Fun movie but I just kept thinking that there was no way in hell he came out of that mess alive.
  23. I just ordered a Concord from Spruce after having to get a jump start after fueling yesterday. I knew it was soft and getting softer but I was trying to stretch it a month or two.
  24. Ken, It's beautiful. Enjoy it. If I can ever get out of this two airplane merry go round I'm on right now a 55 just might be my forever airplane.
  25. For $1.50 an hour and .13 cents a mile I would totally give up ownership. Ahh the good old days. .Kind of neat
