  1. Isn't that the same MSC that just dropped poor Don's plane on it's nose?
  2. Looks like they use a snap or an eyelet and a small bracket to hook it to depending on the make/model. I guess it depends on how far down the CB rabbit hole you want to climb. But I think it would be pretty easy to replicate. If you use the 2 strap option from my above links you could loop one between your rudder pedals and yoke.
  3. That is what I use as well, I have two, one or the ailerons and one for the elevator.
  4. Save $35 and just go with something like this https://www.amazon.com/MyTrip-Single-Suitcase-Travel-Luggage/dp/B01A4RLR32/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1541377434&sr=8-18&keywords=red+strap or only save $28, but get a spare..https://www.amazon.com/PowerTye-Heavy-Duty-Lashing-Buckle-2-Pack/dp/B0756Q63MJ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541377634&sr=8-3&keywords=red+tie+down+strap
  5. http://www.freedomintheair.org/hand-controls/ this site has links for STC
  6. James, Those are very nice. Here are the two planes my father made for my son. The second is a pedal P-51, you steer the tail wheel with the stick, it has a battery powered engine for the prop including throttle control, nav lights and of course it also has guns that have muzzle flashes and sound with the trigger on the stick. My son is now 22. The rocker is in my attic and the P-51 is hanging from the garage ceiling at my parents, keepsakes for sure.
  7. I have thr 35s, and yes they work as hands free headsets when Bluetoothed to my phone, but the microphone picks up lost of background noise. It’s not designed for high noise environments. I’ve used it in airports talking to my wife and she complained about the amount of noise she could hear.
  8. Mine was installed before I bought the plane, I didn't realize the download equipment was optional. I have a USB port in the panel that I just plug a thumbdrive into to download my 700.
  9. My understanding is that they were not flyable due to maintenance issues.
  10. I never turned wrenches on F-22s but I did on F-16s. Certain maintenance actions can only be done at the depo and require special tools, gigs and cradles. Removing wings is generally one of them. Tyndall is not a F-22 depo. Additionally, the storm grew and moved faster than a team could have been assembled, traveled to Tyndall and completed the work. You also risk additional personnel and aircraft being on the ground when the storm hit. Yes, the commanders are responsible for their equipment (planes), but they have a greater responsibility to their personnel. The potential is real that 2 Billion dollars in aircraft were lost, but zero lives were lost. It sucks to be a tax payer, but its better than attending funerals.
  11. No, there are way more qualified F22 pilots than flyable planes. A single squadron probably has 4 pilots per aircraft.
  12. Those were hardened bunkers that were supposed to protect against bombs during the cold war, mainly at the US bases in Europe. I don't think there are any at Air Force bases in the states..
  13. Not even close...it numbered in the teens that were not able to fly out. The hangars they were in was severely damaged. The final bill will be in the billions.
  14. That J flew in the Mooney Caravan to Oshkosh this year...
  15. @MBDiagManI just looked at the TFRs. You can operate in the outer rings as long as you are on a flight plan going into or out of a local airfield. That opens up both Crestview (KCEW) and Defuniak Springs (54J). I just moved from that area and was based at 54J. Rental cars are available from Enterprise in Crestview for both locations, they will bring the car to you at 54J.
  16. While that may be a grass stain, it is more likely that it is from the grass eating bugs that the bird had eaten.
  17. Paul, New location M40. Thanks
  18. The ILS approach into KGTR Rwy 18, requires the final approach fix be identified by 1. marker beacon, 2. crossing radial or 3. GPS. I fly it almost everyday, or I should say my students fly me on it. It is not common and I rarely have found a time I need the marker beacon in recent times.
  19. Sometimes you just get lucky with the colors of the plane. Matches my school colors perfectly. Montana State University - Bobcats
  20. I recently need to fly into Green Bay, WI for a family funeral. I was arriving on a Sunday. It just so happened that this was the weekend of the Packer-Viking game there in Green Bay. I called the FBO, Jet Air Group, which happens to be a Signature Select FBO. I was waiting to hear about the 100s I would be paying for using their services. To my surprise, their game day handling fee is $25, which is waived with a 10 gal fuel purchase. Fuel was around $4.80/gal. They offer discounted fuel on the weekends or anytime if you are an EAA member. Tie down fees were $10/night. Their service was great, the whole staff was super friendly. They treated my Mooney just like the fleet of jets that had flown in for the game. When talking to their desk clerk, I found out that Signature Select FBOs are the final say in their pricing and don't necessarily follow the big Signature fleecing of GA pilots.
  21. Paul, I was able to use the 360 features watching it here in MS using my computer. No i-products involved.
  22. If you are mostly solo the C or E would be great. When you throw your family in there the extra room of the G is nice, however the G probably has one of the lowest useable loads of the Mooneys. I enjoy my F, have flown Florida to Montana with my wife, daughter (12 at the time) and our 65 lb dog.
  23. Are you planning on landing between 11 pm and 5 am?
  24. https://www.aglaviation.com/agl-home Located @ KMRN, Foothills Regional Airport in Morgantown, NC, near Charlotte. They are a Mooney Service Center.
  25. I am staying at the Laquinta, plus getting a rental car. My total is less than two nights at the Hampton.
