Wow!!! toooo bad that things break. A year and 10 AMU's to get her in the air again. Still,, you have a bargain plane.. I too suffered through that time, but didn't do any work. Sooo,,, An annual, airworthy, sooo sweet,,,,, 6 days, 17 hours flying. Then you get to ,,, sometimes things break,,, need some money !! Glad your transponder and prop governor repairs will be less than An AMU to fix. Look forward to tales of your flying trips in the future... I am still very proud of you,, doing the work, getting through this ,,, long time,, making it happen,, getting it done!! Oh,, and,, D/C's Rule!!!! -
Like I said before,, there are only 3,, fixed gear Mooney's still flying, and they aren't regular posters here.. But,,, Raptor,, I count Cliffy, Richard, Ed, Bonal and You. That is 5. They are All D/C Mooney's. You are the only one to call it correctly,, D/C. That doesn't irk me at all! I wonder if All the D/C owners could check the plane logs to determine if their plane left the factory with retractable gear,,, or if they were made a C later in life... Inquiring minds want to know.... BTW,, C's were called Ranger in some years.... Yours says Master on the side, Richards says Master inside, and Mark 21 outside. But I gotta wonder what that means...

1st! congrats Skates,,, beautiful!! with a 201 windshield and a cowl mod,, she will be fast, and efficient!! I am happy for you... anticipating reading all about this in your blog,, make sure you use your good typewriter... Next I wish ALL would stop talking about D's... Of all the D's the factory ever started to build, nearly all were finished as C's,, Very few were ever Really D's.. Their are only 3 real D's on the registry now... My advice is to talk about your plane as a "D/C",,, never as just a D, unless the gear is down and welded!

Adding External Power Receptacle

that doesnt even look like decent 1930s tractor technology,,, I think it looks like a BS grinder way to get a jump start. I think it is a clusterfjck! But I gotta ask, where are the cables from the "Battery", in the box, that go to you plane electric system? ok I think they are in the plane and you will install the box, open it, and hook them up,,, doh! -

an example ive wondered about recently,,, I check the atis at my 1000 ft msl airport, it says 29.92, i dial that in, altimeter says 1000 ft, its warm in the sun, temp is 15 C... my engine has 28.92 manifold pressure to work with.. I take off and fly for awhile and land at copalis beach, its a sand runway at the ocean. now at sea level my engine can have all of the 29.92 manifold pressure,,,, cool... another day in the winter the atis says 30.92, altimeter again says 1000 ft msl. i fly for awhile and land at copalis again,,, i ponder that DA stuff i read about. i reset the colsman window to 29.92 and see my pressure alt at -1000 ft, now my engine has 30.92 manifold pressure to work with,,, and its cold, my OAT says 0 C,,, sooo,, i whip out my e6b and dial in my -1000 pressure alt and my OT of 0C and find a DA of -3350 ft msl,,,, wow! my engine now has 33.5 manifold pressure to make power out of

Go learn stalls, NOW!,,,Not how to do them, thats too easy, not how to recover, thats easy too, IF you have altitude.... Learn what the plane starts to Feel like when you get near a stall,,, This is the Most Important part! Practice flying very near the stall so you Instinctively know how Close you are to F ing up your whole life!! Learning stalls is really all about,,, Never Stalling,,, unless you really want to!!! I learned stalls on purpose during my Discovery Flight! I payed attention.. It saved four Lives one day in Feb. 1979! (Forced, no gas, landing in a 400ft pasture, in a city)
