What is the box 1.5X4" under the ADF indicator? Is the indicator to the left of the radio a self contained nav reciever with VOR indicator? Is the indicator to the left of the Xponder and ADF radio an ILS / GS indicator? Do you think that audio panel has a 3 light marker beacon receiver?

mpg replied to DaV8or's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Read Richard Bach, A Gift of Wings,,, page 135, a story called, School for Perfection.. -
Why do airports have 4 ft. deep cement ditches????
-
Wow! that sounds like some great coverage,,,, of you working on your plane!! OK,, I kid,,, but seriously,, when you gonna start flying that thing? OTOH, I wrote about checking a Mooney 350 mi away,, but talked my way out of it! problems... I did view a Mooney 60 mi away last Sat. but wouldnt buy a plane, before the cops came,, with a dead battery, and tanks 3/4 full of water! Oh,, and NO title!!!
-
Wow! my uneducated guess is,,,, your plane has rudder peddle extensions, but you didnt know it.
-
i always read and enjoy the flyer,,, but this link just reloads this exact page...

thing is, the OP saw this , paint problem when he got on the plane! he could have run back out the door,,, but really, it is no big deal! I was mid flight on commercial, looking at the wing when I saw GALLONS! of viscous yellow fluid flowing out over the flaps and into the wind. I showed it to the cabin crew, they said OK, we landed safely anyway, good!

i have been reading a lot about all the work involved in just opening up all the panels needed just to get at all the places that need inspection and maintenance. usually it sounds like a complete, proper annual cant be done in less than 16 hour of work, even with a owner assisting!

an interesting test for you fly the same density alt., same power setting, fly 150,, then pull up and see what your artificial horizon looks like when you have slowed to a steady 100!

.. Kathryn's Report: Mooney M20C, N6762U: Accident ... .. NTSB Identification: ERA14CA104 14 CFR Part 91: General AviationAccident occurred Sunday, January 26, 2014 in Rutherfordton, NCProbable Cause Approval Date: 04/23/2014Aircraft: MOONEY M20C, registration: N6762UInjuries: 1 Uninjured. NTSB investigators used data provided by various entities, including, but not limited to, the Federal Aviation Administration and/or the operator and did not travel in support of this investigation to prepare this aircraft accident report. According to the pilot, he checked the fuel gauges in the airplane before departing on a cross country flight. He stated that the left fuel gauge indicated 1/2 tank and the right fuel gauge indicated 1/4 tank. The pilot did not visually check the fuel quantity in the tanks and did not take on any additional fuel. Approximately 60 nautical miles (NM) from his destination, he switched from the left fuel tank to the right fuel tank. The engine began to "stutter" and he switched back to the left fuel tank and the engine resumed normal operation. He located the nearest airport which was 10 NM from his location and made a turn towards it. Shortly thereafter, the engine began to "stutter" again and the pilot shut the engine down and made an emergency landing in a field. During the emergency landing, the airplane collided with trees, and sustained substantial damage to the wings and fuselage. Examination of the fuel system revealed that the fuel tanks were not breached, and the left and right fuel tanks contained less than 1 gallon of fuel in each. A review of the pilot operating handbook (POH) revealed that each fuel tank held 26 gallons of fuel, for a total of 52 gallons. The POH stated that there is 48 gallons of usable fuel, which left 4 gallons of fuel unusable. The POH also revealed that the fuel tanks should be visually checked before flight.

Really??? If they are essentially the same aircraft,,,.. Would that Not mean that they are essentially the same aircrafts... I mean,, really, I cant help myself now,,, but are they same ones,, or are they really two ones???
-
I will go out on a limb and strongly guess that he means that he runs 25 hours,,, then adds just 2 quarts,, to again bring it up to 7 qts..
-
Seriously!!! look this plane up... it is not the advertised 310 hp, but they will add it for more $$$ and that warranty,,,, hah,, 10 hours?? its in florida,, the warranty would expire before I could fly it home to Belfair!!!

I had lots of fun, confusion and head ache playing with this math problem. The closest Hank gets to Bonal is at the moment they take off side by side. Bonal magically stops at the destination 38 min 56.5 secs after take off. 24.5 secs later Hank magically stops at the destination too. Hank levels off in 7.5 minutes after take off and is 13,271.6 feet behind Bonal. In the next 1.875 minutes until Bonal reaches altitude Hank closes the gap. Hank cruises 5,918.02 feet behind Bonal. Sooo, it took Hank 39 min 21 secs to "catch up" to Bonal... And,,, The distance to the destination does not change the 24.5 second gap, only the total trip time.

I wonder if the OP keying his mike to say "mooney holding short at 24",,, May have prompted the Turbo guy to key his mike to say "thanks Mooney, its all yours now,, good day"... Kinda like getting a space to enter slow traffic or to get across it. I always give a big happy smiley face, wave of thank you,,, It a thanks!

Gear: Scary moment this morning
mpg replied to Oscar Avalle's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Just to add... I have now worn out two pages of my books, and my wiz wheel has seized up from over use! I see his alt and kosman so have reduced his alt to 9470, pressure alt, but,, I dont know his OAT,, my only clue is carb temp of 10c, which seems high! But whether the OAT is 10c, very warm,,, or -2c, standard, He IS trucking along,,, somewhere between 170 MPH, or 166 MPH,,, WOW!! Sooo,,, in KPH,,, he is going 148 KPH,, or 144 KPH "TAS"! That IS Fast! and thanks for the head ache,, I needed that,, I will cool down and oil my wiz wheel and fix a drink! My studies continue... -

Thanks,,, you made me think in a thoughtful way about my thoughtless quick post. I had just read his IAS as 144 MPH,,, not anywhere near 150 KPH. I am now relearning the things I thought I knew, but maybe didnt know, 26 yr ago, when I was last a pilot. I missed his point of TAS Vs IAS,, makes a big difference.. Ive been studying a lot, my old confusion is becoming mixed up/in the old confusion, I dont know/think I can ever win! BTW,,, I really like the results of your custom refined cowling for the Mooney's. -

You would get a chance to check out our states largest forest fire, or the aftermath. I believe it got over 100,000 acres. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
