  1. Technically I suppose you could call it that since the switch is mounted to it, but it is made of steel.
  2. That is correct, the adjustment is with the switch. Once clamped the switch bracket is securely anchored to the cable housing; two dimples in the bracket match two holes in the cable housing.
  3. The 2 throttle switch nuts are 1/4” on my ‘67 F. Pulling avionics from the rack may help so you can slide a hand in from the top/middle and the other from below the panel. Something will cramp up, guaranteed.
  4. From the picture this appears to be a very well manicured grass strip with clean approach and departures, I would have no hesitation operating my F out of there. Not having tall obstructions will make landing there a joy, there is nothing better than a good landing on a smooth grass runway.
  5. I really miss being in Tampa, what a great "big" little city.
  6. Yes! And a massive fuel leak. As a matter of fact it is, should be converting 100LL to noise real soon.
  7. I just cleaned my sniffle in the ultrasound and installed it today!
  8. Maybe it has a pressurized cabin
  9. My 67 F has a black rubber breather hose, it’s supposed to be transparent?
  10. I’ll put it on the calendar and plan on attending. Any Atlanta area pilots want to make the hop over together?
  11. I’m not a cfi so maybe I’m speaking out of line....I’ll just say I tried but couldn’t watch more than a few minutes of this one. How many issues do you see? How far into the video did you watch before stopping?
  12. Unlikely you will ever hear anything. My understanding is that most likely they don’t have radar services and didn’t even know you were there unless another pilot that was talking to them had to avoid you and reported a close call. i don’t think anyone is actively watching ADSB-out aircraft, but they certainly could see who it was if they needed to!
  13. Correction! SWTA cowl mod with the access panel removed and a rubber stopper in place for bleeding the brakes.
  14. I was hoping you weren't going to say that...
  15. I'm not a propeller expert by any means but with that reseal history I wonder if there was a problem with the hub causing the repetitive leaks and the shop just kept replacing the seal and not finding the actual root cause (I would expect that the shims are reusable but question if the snap ring is one time use or not. Was this snap ring reused each time the prop was serviced and possibly stretched causing this failure? I just had my prop serviced, I think I'll check the bill to see what parts were replaced... This will definitely be a learning experience, thanks for sharing!
  16. You should have started a group buy and saved $1.26! You’re not in the CB club are you!?!?
  17. Straight out of the book, “NOTE: Experience has proven that it is much easier to remove and reinstall this engine with the mount attached to it.” From my experience in automotive aftersales, this sounds like the voice of experience from a mechanic that was not too happy with the engineers at the Mooney factory. Probably best to not question and listen to the advice. Also, the torque values are published in the maintenance manual as well, I’d follow that closely and use all new fasteners/hardware. Inexpensive parts equals inexpensive insurance.
  18. I should have mentioned that the hardening is long gone on this camshaft. Plus only the lobes and bearing journals would have been treated, not the entire shaft. The tappets are on the bench with it, I’ll check them closely tomorrow.
  19. I’ve been doing a little experiment at my hangar, I have a Lycoming camshaft that came out of an engine last run July 4 2017. It’s sitting on my workbench with the same oil film it had when removed, so far there is not a spot of rust on it.
  20. Start putting the money you are currently saving by not flying in a piggy bank for the next time it goes in the shop...
  21. The Culver Cadet shown in the link you provide (at Vintage Flying Museum) is currently for sale. I’m pretty familiar with the Cadet, sweet flying airplane.
  22. That sloped windshield gives it a bit of a Culver V look.
  23. Sounds good, I’d like to join in on that
