Culver LFA replied to Culver LFA's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
Yep, that’s why I bought 2. I’m hoping some other missing things may show up as well! -

Wing inspection cover needed

Yep, adding the picture was probably over the top. So can you help me out with a cover? -
I took one off to color match and now have no idea where I put it, I probably put it on the roof of my car before I drove off... Anyone have a spare? @Alan Fox @acpartswhse

Nope. There were no questions asked, completed the reservation, installation, validation flight and then got the rebate.

PS Engineering 8000BT vs Garmin GMA 345
Culver LFA replied to Lance Link's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Shoot, ya’ll must be rich. I have good ol’ KMA24 with a Sigtronics RES-400 intercom and a RES-401 stereo retrofit system (I got it off eBay new in the box for $60). Plug a $10 Bluetooth receiver into the RES-401 audio input and bam, your listening to your iTunes with 1980 technology! iPad/Foreflight, all that Jazz... If I wanted to call somebody that’d have to go through the Bose A20 but I don’t do that. Now if I could only figure out how to get the music through the cabin speaker for my daughter while we’re on the ground before we get rolling. -
Sometimes the wisdom here on Mooneyspace amazes me, and sometimes I just shake my head and whisper “please stop this thread” (before the people that are new learning about the capability of a Mooney regurgitate the garbage that spews from our mouths). I have no experience with long-body, but I can assure you a mid/short body Mooney does very very well on short fields and turf.

Weren't you the REAL reason we were getting together for lunch? I'm still planning on being there tomorrow, we'll just have to do it again when you are available! If anyone is interested in doing something before or after lunch, WWII Heritage Days will be going on this weekend at Falcon Field/Peachtree City. "That's All Brother", P-51 rides, stuff like that. https://wwiidays.org/d-day-75th-anniversary/

Who did the prop balancing for you? I'm planning on having it done and was hoping for someone fairly local

@Kris_Adams How's this Saturday look for you?

Saturday is looking good for me!

Run-in with the law - so to speak
Culver LFA replied to flyboy0681's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Any chance that would be Dr. Greenwald? I haven't talked to him in over 10 years but if you keep in touch with him please tell him Joe Burley said "Hello!". I always enjoyed seeing him, super nice guy and always smiling (he'd remember me from Reeves). -
Still raining here, terrible soggy weather... Who’s in for KPIM next Saturday the 27th, 11:30?
-
I was silently hoping someone would suggest another day? There is a lot of interest and another date not competing with a holiday would be good. Or, keep everything as is and let’s do another one next week!
-
Gus is flooding out (or maybe I should say flooded in?) as well, if you buzz him keep the wheels up and make it a low approach!
-
Unfortunately due to the rain last night I’m not able to fly, my grass runway will be wet until Monday/Tuesday. Here’s a photo of the local Chevrolet dealer located a couple miles from my hangar.
-
I’ve been talking to him too, if he doesn’t show I think we should just fly over to Mallards landing instead
-
I think it will be good on Saturday. A little cool with wind out of the west, right down the runway.

Need Hangar Build Advice
Culver LFA replied to DualRatedFlyer's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
@DualRatedFlyer I’ll have to confirm but I believe this is the model we used: http://www.cooperindustries.com/content/public/en/lighting/products/highbay_lowbay_industrials/led/_891933.html If memory serves correct I paid ~$200/ directly through my electrician’s wholesaler. -
Pine Mountain has been notified and should have both cars available for the Mooney group on Saturday. Fuel tank was filled yesterday, I think he said the price was now $3.90/gal.

Need Hangar Build Advice
Culver LFA replied to DualRatedFlyer's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Would you recommend having the hangar 60 wide, or 60 long, and why? 60' wide, wings are longer than fuselages. You'll appreciate extra room on the sides to stay clear of the wingtips. What type of door would you recommend? Rolling door, bifold, single piece hydraulic? My hangar was build in '89 and has the easiest rolling doors I've ever opened. They are No/low maintenance. I do not have a lot of experience with a bi-fold or single hydraulic doors so can't comment on the benefits. How wide would you recommend the door be? As wide as the hangar design will allow, if you spend time in the hangar when you are not flying you will want to open it up and let the breeze flow through. Lights - I know nothing about them. What kind if lights should I put in? I have 12 Cooper high bay LED lights in a 60x60 area of my hangar, they do the job well and don't even put a ripple in my electric bill (they are on 8 hrs a day/5 days a week). Skylights - I have been told there are two types. Those that leak and those that will leak. I noticed how pitch black my neighbors hanger is with no skylights, and how bright my other neighbors is with skylights. Are they worth it? I would put as few holes in the roof as possible, put side light panels up high in the walls or leave the LED lights on. Water leaks do lots of damage to items inside a hangar. What are the other big elements that I am missing? Any questions I should be asking? I would plan for a single car garage door and/or windows on the back wall of the hangar to open so you can get some nice airflow through the building when you are hanging out in your hangar (No matter where you live, a metal box in the summer sun can get pretty hot). -
Well, I didn’t want @201er to feel left out, he won’t even need the long range tanks to meet us. Actually I was deciding between the Gulf and East groups when the dinner bell range at my house, I got distracted. Where is the line, N/S of the Bible Belt, Yankees vs. Confederates?
-
Me too, looking forward to it! I put another thread over in the East coast group so we can get an estimated headcount.

As discussed in the "Mooney near Columbus GA" thread, a Mooney lunch has been planned at Pine Mountain/Harris Co. Airport (KPIM). Saturday, April 20th @11:30AM I'll plan to fly down there this coming Monday or Tuesday to prep the FBO and ask to use both courtesy cars so we drive to the restaurant. The cars are old police cars, so if we can secure both that should transport 8-10 people. If you plan on attending, please respond with how many people so we can get an approximate headcount for the restaurant.
-
I’m in for food and flying. Some thoughts: Pine mountain/Harris Co. (KPIM) has 2 courtesy cars and there is a nice restaurant on top of the hill with a view. 5000’ paved and gas at $3.60/gallon Barnstormers restaurant is on the field at Alexander Memorial/Peachstate (GA2). Great atmosphere and food but the hilly grass strip will probably lower attendance. The restaurant at Bessemer AL has been on my list but is heading the wrong direction...
