  1. And this as well showing the correct upper and lower mount orientation (from the Barry Application sheet) Airpower inc has the Barry mounts on sale, $385.26 for 4
  2. That was a good idea, I looked today to see if I could flip the bolt over but then I'll have an issue with my intercom which mounts directly below. You know how one things leads to another on airplanes? Everything seems to turn into a project.
  3. Here is a picture from behind my panel, throttle cable hole being on the right. 3/4” isn’t going to work in my airplane. Hopefully this will help others get the correct cable for their airplane in the future, it really is true that every one of these airplanes are different!
  4. No, I removed the cables yesterday and completed their forms. They are quoting $325 each for the mixture and prop, $525 for the 1/2” throttle or $375 for the 3/4”.
  5. Hi Bob, Boring out the hole to 3/4” is no problem but the location of the j bar mount (2 small tubes welded to the structure) are in very close proximity to the throttle cable housing, if I go larger I’m pretty confident it won’t fit. I’ll take another look tomorrow, maybe the threaded portion will not interfere, but I seem to remember the housing making direct contact in this area. Thanks for sharing your experience with McFarlane, Kelli has been helpful and quick to respond to me. -Joe
  6. Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some feedback on the McFarlane custom made throttle cable. This is a replacement for a '67 M20F and the throttle cable I removed was a 1/2"-20. McFarlane responded that they normally produce a 3/4"-16 and the price will be high for a 1/2"-20. When I removed the cable I noticed that the 1/2"-20 has zero clearance against the J-bar handle mount (which my airplane does not utilize, other than it has the intercom bracket mounted there), so I think I'll have to pay the higher price. Am I missing something, how are you all getting a 3/4-16 throttle cable in there? Thanks! Joe
  7. Nice pics, looks like fun! I did the same with a friend not long ago, and the Mooney sure does have a nice comfortable speed range that was required to get this photo.
  8. I discussed this exact scenario with my agent last year and was told my hangar insurance does not provide coverage on the airplanes stored inside. If the building collapses and there is no ground policy on the airplanes it’s a really bad day.
  9. Hey! What’s wrong with the VW Beetle? It’s one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. People smile at you and tell fun stories of when they had a Beetle. Waves and thumbs up everyday. Bullet proof reliable and easy to maintain. If it only had wings it would be one of the best commuters out there!
  10. This one is going in my airplane as soon as Ron has it assembled. Thanks for the lead!
  11. Mine had not been overhauled since 1989. The system seemed to operate fine but it looked terrible and the linkage was getting sloppy. I sent the components off to Russ at D&G Supply and he did a great job. The servo and divider now look brand new. http://www.dgsupply.com/about-us
  12. Maybe the issue was that the “Mooney Museum” name was already taken. http://www.sarahamooneymuseum.org/ In reality, Mooneyspace is the Mooney museum. Keeping them flying!
  13. Yes, many did. This is a true statement.
  14. Porsche going to water cooling had more to do with noise and exhaust emissions than power, look at their competitive history and you will see that Porsche did not struggle to produce extreme amounts of reliable power with turbocharged air cooled engines. Just couldn’t continue to do air cooled and meet the federal noise and exhaust emissions. (993 was last of the air cooled. Not counting the 944/968, the 9x6 Boxster & 911 started the ‘modern’ production water cooled cars)
  15. I think the tailbeacon is what I'm interested in as well, I think I read somewhere that it is expected to be approved in the Fall 2018
  16. I saw that they have a Tempest overhauled pump listed at a much more reasonable CB price: http://m.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/TEMPESTfuelpumpLYC.php Call and ask for Nick Wood at the counter, he’s a good guy and will make sure you get the right part.
  17. My opinion, the question is do you go with a 62B26931 pump or find a LW-15473 before flying the airplane? I was recently reading on here that the 62B26931 pressures are a bit over Mooney spec.
  18. This is the brochure that Brittain sent me when I inquired about adding altitude hold to my PC system. It says the entire Brittain Pitch Altitude Control System consist of four elements: (1) Function Panel…to engage and monitor the system via a miniaturized pitch trim indicator which visually references the position of the elevator trim taps. (2) Sensor-Computer Amplifier…the remotely located “sensing” device which is the heart of the system. (3) Altitude Hold Chamber. (4) Pneumatic Servos…connected to aircraft elevator mechanism.

  20. I inquired about this time last year and was quoted a bit over $3000 for the parts. They said it would probably take 18-24 months to collect and tag the parts and they could put me on the waiting list. While it would be nice to have, I couldn’t justify the expense when the airplane holds altitude so well. ‘Saving’ that money will buy a lot of fuel!
  21. Hi Alan, I'll take it! Let's add that on to the J-bar parts we are discussing. Joe
  22. That's a big one right there, I pay 100/quarter for Road Dues alone. The size of your community must help reduce the costs per lot pretty significantly as well.
  23. Come on, no instrument approach there? What are you going to say next, that your using a turf runway??? You can't fly a Mooney off grass, it will ruin the airplane ;-)
  24. It was, I think it was back in 1967 for the first owner Found the 337, it was converted Jan 30, 1967 by Dugosh. The conversion added 13#
  25. How about J-bar and associated components to convert electric back to manual gear?
