  1. Super ! Now I want a Porsche Your in the Philadelphia area I take it, Or Trenton NJ ?
  2. Where is this great basin ? just the rough location, I do know yosemite. are you a glider pilot too?
  3. Ha, I started with a cheap E in 2015 , There is a couple of different types of pilots , the one that wants to fly and do not work on the plane. And the one that enjoys working on the plane and like to fly every now and then . You state you found a cheap plane, then you should be in the enjoy working on planes group.
  4. I just don't know , I checked the web site and found this Salomon Pilot Bindings for sale I think maybe they don't like pilots and tie them up. Especially if they are from the Salomons
  5. I used American Flyers a few years ago, if that helps... http://www.americanflyers.net I used their 10day program and spread it out over a month. It was interesting to use various instructors in different planes. Things that would have been detrimental to the learning experience in initial training. I would gladly go back, but would use my plane, the second time around... Then look into MAPA's training once you have the IR. It is like the grad school of the IR for you and your specific Mooney. a , I would like to use my plane too, but i don't have anything in it IFR instrument wise. (except it is certified IFR, Im pulling out the ADF and Loran soon) What would you suggest as the minimum IFR instruments needed to obtain the rating ? Carl
  6. Ross , you really don't want to go this direction here , we might get into some large scale pictures. ha ha
  7. mark , lets see some pictures too
  8. Carbon looks cool . What are the FAA rules. Can we do anything we want . I saw some carbon fiber interior panels once and wondered how do we do that.
  9. 240014-903 Hinge Block, Flap 1 mooney out of stock 240014-901 Hinge Block, Flap 1 mooney out of stock and a stringer I think mooney has this. But i must admit , here in Pennsylvania i hate the hangar in the winter .So i have not been pushing it ill find it or order it this week. carl
  10. Alex , Me too , I went in at thanksgiving. ok Im going to order parts from Mooney, so they want 120 days to make them . I checked with Lasar , Dan checked , He has one hinge in stock and the other has to be made from Mooney. Maybe they are faster than 120 days and they just say it . carl
  11. just for the sake of discussion pearls are extremely small particles in the sizes of 10 -100 microns. 10 microns is about 0.0004 thousands , 100 microns the becomes .004 inches. I think they are so small you can just see the glimmer effect. Metal flake is now made from polyester, coated with different colors , polyester does not dissolve in solvents, glitter is usually made from plastic and it does dissolve.
  12. That looks a lot like my paint scheme idea. I might like yours better, with a stylized E on the tail. Flake is just more work for paint shops. A base, a clear with the flake, and a top clear coat. Flake is measured in thousandths of an inch (in us), small is 0.004 , 0.008 medium , 0.015 large and 0.025 extra large are the most common for custom painters. car makers will use smaller flake which you can't see unless you stop and get real close. Bass boat makers use extra large and bigger to really catch your eye. The bigger the flake the deeper the clear must be to bury the flake , therefore the smaller the flake the less materials , and work. the question is how much pop do you want ,what size of flake. I love flake. Do the whole thing in it. I am thinking of large 0.015 flake, so i bought some 0.015 silver.I think it is still small , but I am not going any larger because of the depth of the clear ,and i don't want to look like a bass boat. Get some flake in different sizes and shoot some samples . The worst thing is to spend money and then not like it. Either, I can't see the flake or, wow it's way too much pop.
  13. i looked at the center spar it looked great. the whole plane was in great condition . i felt it could be use for some thing . i felt the owner had really kept after the maintenance . the paint was a nice modern green with some small flake . the windows were awesome . appeared new . i got the windows .but there are already drilled so i wonder it they will match with my planes screw holes. carl
  14. Ross, Here is a question that has always confused me . The I O 360 is supposed to be 200 hp in my E , But on the FAA registration it is listed as 180 Hp. the range for the engine varies with type I , as in A1A, but why doesn't the the FAA know that. carl

Check out death of a Mooney . it the same plane !!!! ( no offense ) you say this is a 1965 c? Very sharp!
  16. Alan,Its me Carl , Do you still have the inboard wings at the fuselage? I need the flap bracket it is the left side very first inboard one . It is up inside. So maybe it wasn't damaged like the others. carl
  17. you need a bigger tow bar for your hanger. I have the little one in my plane and a big one at the hanger . It makes it so much easier. Its just welded up rod in a Z . but it is about 6 foot long. And I don't see a refrigerator? Nice plane carl
  18. I got some needed parts for my M20 E . Plus I met, Alan,Terry , Larry, and the parrot wizard, Mike,(he had the same pants) and MariAnna and others . Alan knows what he is doing and would not sell me some parts I wanted because they were over stressed in the landing ,so he scraped them . Good call. My IA has the parts i got and says they will work on my plane. It was a great winter day carl
  19. to be overly simple , the 172 stall at 47 kn the m 20 e 50 kn the sr22 60 kn so the sr22 needs to be flown faster in the pattern then a 172 . thats all im saying
  20. The issue is the design and training The SR 22 is a super high performance aircraft , My Mooney M 20 E is not. I offer; wing area gross wt wing loading SR22 144.9 3400 23.6 M Bravo 174.8 3368 19.3 M 20 E 167 2575 15.4 C-172 174 2300 13.2 If I fly my E just like a 172 not much happens. If I fly a SR 22 like a 172 I will stall the wing. The Sr 22 should be flown more like a jet. Carl
  21. I just got his book !! Yep, I 'd do 14 hours . I have a 67 e
  22. May 26, 2009 Mooney Ovation 3: Turbo Performance Without The Turbo The Ovation 3 is the fastest normally aspirated production single ever—period "The Marshall Mooney also features the Jose Monroy 130-gallon, long-range tanks, in case you're one of those strange folks who likes to endure for 10 hours at a time. The bottom line is an airplane that can fly much longer than most pilots are willing to sit,"
  23. Lucy Young is an American naval officer. In 1980 she became the first woman to qualify in Naval Air Combat Maneuvering , Then Airlines , & FAA
  24. Brian, its not your fault , your new here. there are words that can not be written. This has started a slippery slope I know where it is going .Oh no, Slippery, I used one myself.
  25. Hello ,

Gee I don't know what to call you.

    Hello Mr Nobody,

    That sounds rude, sorry.

I am looking for these parts, I am going out to South Jersey to meet with Alan and look over his salvage job.

I do not need the actual flap, just the hardware , hangers , hinges, aileron hinges.

But where are you located? Are you near Pa?

I am interested in the flap hangers

Hi Carl.  My salvage flap with hangers is "enroute" via my sister from Arizona...to Arkansas and ultimately Iowa.  I will assess and I will part with the hangers for a reasonable price "if you want them".  If you are on a tight time frame might not work...I am in Midwest.
