  1. I'd like to get back too. Not many jobs though. I was back last month for the first time in a decade and didn't realize how much I missed it. I was supposed to fly but our hunk of junk is in the shop.
  2. Oh, and maybe a neighbor is calling in and complaining about the noise too
  3. Looks real nice for sub-100k I find the bonanza to be a wonderful airplane to fly. Enjoy it Now, go get a tornado alley kit for it
  4. Where in Western Mt? I feel like if you're up on the highline like Kalispell you're probably right, looking for drug runners, or are just bored and want to watch the plane land. Maybe they're worried someone is stealing airplanes, who knows. Try not to get shot flagging them down....
  5. it's very, very rarely requested. Let me tell you how LA center crashed their computer by putting a U2 in as VFR on top at 065 instead of above FL600 causing eram to send the flight plan to every facility under ZLA, tanking it immediately.... http://www.nbcnews.com/news/investigations/spy-plane-fries-air-traffic-control-computers-shuts-down-lax-n95886
  6. Ugh. We're about $7k into install labor on one for the 231.
  7. Well, you need a commercial before you apply for a cfi. CFI is fun, my oral only took 5 hours.
  8. XM I like being able to get destination WX from anywhere. portable ADSB as a backup.
  9. you would think they could have a system that fires up the electric standby pump automatically when a low vac situation exists.
  10. Tough to say. Ours is at 600ish and at least based on anecdotal evidence I agree. Our A&P also seems to agree. Makes a good case for a Garmin or dynon digital doesn't it?
  11. So, just for background info I have used the AOPA FIRC back when jeppesen was involved because I worked there and it was free, and it wasn't a very good product. It's different now. I've used the "lifetime" american flyers course for probably 5 renewals now, and it's been fine. It's free but $50 if I want them to do paperwork vs drive to the FSDO. In the past flyers had a specified amount of time you had to spend on each module, I believe that changed last time I did it, but that was 2 years ago. It's a pretty tedious process with them though. I can't do an in person because they're always sat/sun and I work both.
  12. anyone used the aopa online course? I've used american flyers for years and it's been fine, but if the aopa is less hassle I'll do that one instead.
  13. I feel like it needs to be reiterated, even at a class d towered field separation services are not being provided in the airspace. A VFR tower is ONLY responsible for that strip of concrete/asphalt. Everything else is an additional service and not guaranteed.
  14. The loonies and toonies seemed to work for Canada, and save money since they last a lot longer than bills. Did they stop making one recently? I seem to remember they did.
  15. People in the US tend to hoard $2 bills for their perceived rarity. I'm not sure they're as much rare as just not used.
  16. yikes, spun it and then tried another stall.
  17. strange, since the US has had $2 bills longer than I've been alive.
  18. probably just outsourcing it to china. or is it insourcing?
  19. The course is very similar to other elms learning modules the faa does. I'm very familiar with them...
  20. you can do it in 20 minutes if you push through quick. The test is really easy and there are study guides you can review with the questions on the webs. It took longer to figure out the online 8710 form for me.
  21. Depends on the temp drop, closer to 75
  22. now that I've done the paperwork I'm not sure why I did. I don't own a drone, it's not hard for someone without a pilots license to get the drone license. Oh well, more government plastic.
  23. Mmmmm thats leaner than I run. I figure 13gph at 29"
