  1. Makes you wonder how the plane got there, doesn't it? I assume crated with the wings off in a boat.
  2. meant to put this in the modern mooney section, oh well.
  3. We sent our AI out to be overhauled, it works fine but I was testing the lights and the AI isn't lighting up internally. Our HSI has like a little light bar inside at the top and illuminates, but not the AI. So I don't know if it never did, or something didn't get plugged in.
  4. Min fuel means you can not accept any undue delay. You still wait your turn. Fuel emergency means you need priority handling and need to go to the airport now and land. Everyone else waits.
  5. dude just tell them you can't and why briefly and they'll work out something else.
  6. PS I think the guy was really douchey about it when the BE asked. I also think you should have SOME EFFING AWARENESS where the arrival and departure corridors are at major airports and I dunno, maybe don't fly across them at the gate altitudes... just a thought.
  7. Yeah... as they eluded in the recording some feel it's a liability, especially around terrain because the VFR guy is likely below the MVA. A lot won't because the aircraft are not under their control technically. I can't remember much because it was a couple years ago, but they made a point to emphasize that they want people to vector VFR's if necessary. I mean really if you're issued traffic and you don't see it you should ask for a vector anyway...
  8. a plane has no name.
  9. quality is too good, makes me suspect. Also only the lines are recorded usually. Not conversations between the r side and d side or r sides sitting next to each other.
  10. A lot will not turn a VFR in class E/G. It was a hot topic in the agency a year or two ago to change that mindset.
  11. Oh those God damn klixons.
  12. I noticed our 231 won't idle full rich... at leadville. I'm so used to never leaning anymore it took me a second to figure out why the fire went out. Next time around I just kept it rolling
  13. I have only been once. It's OK, I think they have fixed the ramp markings so it's more evident where the ramp ends and where the taxiway begins. It was pilot deviation central before. There was a place on field called b52's I believe. Decent food, I think they have since closed but I don't know why I think that. I don't care to loiter in that corridor from APA south to PUB so I don't really feel a compelling need to return.
  14. now all I need is a small freezer device that I can leave in the hangar and freeze ice blocks one at a time.
  15. thanks for the vid, maybe I'll build one. I had a QT halo, used it twice, sold it.
  16. LOOKS pretty straightforward. Though nothing ever is with our plane! The tech notes were sticky vanes and bearings and unstable attitude, so it was definitely due. Truthfully, we should have had it done 6 months ago when it was noted to be slow to erect but decided as a group not to for reasons I can't recall.
  17. our AI is done, 795+shipping for the overhaul. Took just about a week even with the holiday. Nice folks, I'll use them again unless something crazy comes up once the AI arrives.
  18. No, I think you're right. Wages are pretty stagnant, but the average car is almost 40k and people are buying them. Starter houses around me are 350+,its not sustainable
  19. Thanks, somewhere at home I have the fill chart, I'll confirm the size
  20. definitely need two tanks, I think our onboard is 120cu ft or something ridiculous.
  21. Do you take the tanks in for a refill or do they come out swap them with full ones for you? The BIG tanks are a little hard to fit in my hatchback if I have to take them in.
  22. I hope so. At least your outlook on the future of GA is brighter than mine.
  23. I figure 350 for the hoses etc and I can't remember what the tank lease was, a couple hundred a year for the biggest guys anyway (2) I think it's worth it for convenience, though I only fill a few times a year.
  24. I'd like a fill system too for the same reason. A fill here is 90 bucks but a hassle
