  1. The rechargeable batteries last 50 hrs in the Bose, so there really isn't a big need for the Lemo plugs, IMHO
  2. I thought factory overhaul gets you roller tappets and no D as standard?
  3. A prebuy can be anything you want, you don't need to do a full annual inspection. Remove only panels necessary to check for corrosion. Skip compression checks, do a borescope instead. Fill fuel tanks and let plane sit overnight and check for leaks. A good preflight and flight test to test autopilot, avionics would cover many annual items. Oil change. Of course if the annual is soon to be required, then you can convert a prebuy to an annual.
  4. Did you try to add a statement to remarks section, unable to accept v66, or altitude restriction of 8000.
  5. I'm so sick of the "altitude controlled by power, airspeed controlled by pitch" i used pitch to remain on the glide slope, because pitch results in a quick change, but temporary. I use power to change the airspeed, because power effects lag, but a long lasting. ATC does not care if your airspeed is too high or low, and I want the change to remain, so I use power for airspeed. The opposite is true for remaining on the glide slope, you need to get back on slope quickly and readjusting be necessary. im betting the big iron auto throttles use power for airspeed and pitch to control the altitude on approach.
  6. Nice, I see you use the POA state map, are those states you flown thru or landed?
  7. As planes get older sometimes the don't perform like they use to.
  8. The only way to get video I think is to put on YouTube or Vimeo and post link.
  9. Reviewing my logbook: 109 flights and over 180 hours, first full year of ownership, hoping for a lower insurance premium this year.
  10. Some red ink is ok:
  11. Your youngest looked like he wasn't wearing a headset...might want to fix that.
  12. Stec APs use TC to determine bank, what does the KAP 150 use?
  13. Worst case is you have an incident or near miss and the other aircraft claims they could not see you.
  14. I did this and I didn't provide avionics details, and also got report back....has something changed?
  15. If you turn off the lights then the load is zero, and the Gear down should be bright.
  16. There are separate forward facing halogen recognition lights on the wingtips that melt the lens. The nav lights face the side. This conversation has been going on a long time. http://mooneyspace.com/topic/455-led-recognition-lights-are-you-interested/#comment-4429 I fix that problem by wig waging the recognition lights.
  17. If there was it would be the only runway that is not bidirectional.
  18. I can't believe that's the way it's supposed to work. Did you do this test in bright daylight? It's possible your dim switch, function is broken and on causing the low fuel lights to be on, see POH page 7-23 The test light is just resetting it to full brightness, see service manual page 24-39-05; Q3-Q5 or U2 is defective. unfortunately I don't know anyone who has a schematic, see service instruction SI M20-74 for a partial one.
  19. Bright lights also help in low light conditions. It depends on the value of your plane if you think it's worth it.
  20. My MSC did the work, it only required a log entry.
  21. I replace tail light with Orion 500 strobe, nav light combo, since I was replacing just a tail light a new wire needed to be run, so it a bit more complicated.
  22. Unless he can buy it for what he can part it out, then there is very little risk.
  23. I looked at a M20J with TKS, so definitely can add it to 231, but probably not advertise it as FIKI.
  24. Yes, you can fly without GPS, but GPS LPV approaches are becoming common place and open up a lot of smaller airports when ceilings are low. And for situation awareness nothing beats it. The only ADF approach I've ever done was in a simulator.
  25. The tie downs rings are designed to hold the 2000lb plane in a severe wind storm, a 15lb camera should be no problem, ditto for air resistance, I assume you wouldn't be trying to fly above the green arc. I'm not an A&P...you might to ask somebody before making any assumptions.
