  1. You can remove the tie down rings on the wings, they are just screwed in, build your own camera mount, I think there are other members that have done this.
  2. I would expect in the navlog screen it would allow you to load flight plan but only selection is "clone trip" on 5s
  3. Is that a reflection of you pilot skills or bank account? If former some lesson can fix that. Add FIKI and I'd have to upgrade the engine monitor...and you have my IMWNO (if money was no object) plane.
  4. I lived in a basement apartment and ran a dehumidifier 24/7, but maybe a hangar is too airy for it to keep up?
  5. I use 888 766-8267
  6. FPR: Interior work: Aero Trim Bradley aviation (1 of mechanics owns a J) DAB: Daytona Aircraft Service - MSC, SM is on MS
  7. It would be nice to have a simple spreadsheet: airport, state, name of shop,FBO without comments. For no other reason other to carry as a reference when traveling. Having a problem, quick scan of your list for a shop nearby (hence the reason for the state), direct to. That way you don't have an AOG where you are at the mercy of yahoo looking to take advantage of the situation.
  8. Some don't have a step, they were cut off long ago. $35000 is on the low end... The cost of the airplane will be dwarfed by hangar fees, insurance, fuel costs and maintenance, let alone avionics upgrades. 500 hours/yr? Flying for work, you'll either need a turbo with FIKI or better have a backup plan especially for winter months.
  9. Picture for Mooney needs to be a side view.
  10. My mechanic has a 78J with original engine, 37 years in south Florida, his cam is still good. Hangared of course and replaces oil after 25 hours.
  11. Same as wishboneash, no problem on IPad
  12. Are they afraid of user fees?[emoji1]
  13. Same year, same rate, but I think I'm losing oil thru the breather, exhaust pipe looks clean. I seem to lose at a higher rate when I'm doing multiple short hops and when oil has a few hours on it.
  14. Mine went 1100 hours (slick), in my experience hard starting can be a symptom of mags in need of service.
  15. What is your definition of "cold"?
  16. My oil after 5 mins of taxiing is still 180, I also open the oil fill to allow water vapor to escape after a flight. Don't know it if it helps. I think the cam gets coated after a few seconds, personally I think having clean oil when you store the plane is more important
  17. Is there some reason this video is cutoff on right side?
  18. Not everyone waits until the plane is out of annual to have the annual inspection completed. I often do, because you get an extra month if you time it right. However, if I were using a shop for the first time, I'd likely not give them an out of annual bird. Been there done that... I don't think it matters, I think once you tell them to inspect it, if they find its unairworthy, it's grounded, that's why that pre buys must be not considered inspections, but considered evaluations.
  19. I never give them my logs, they get electronic copies only, and I have a second set of keys...just in case I have to repo my own plane back [emoji1]
  20. If that global warming thing ever comes to fruition, count me in.
  21. 1. Inspection should always be a flat rate. 2. Don't pay then until you've inspected the plane and have gotten log book stickies. 3. Post their name so the rest of us boycott them. 4. If you are test flying it, it better be airworthy and I would require seeing the invoice and logbook entries before I did the test flight. Probably should have asked these ?s 4 months ago.
  22. You aren't impressed by 224KTAS on 7.3gph? I am. Its Analogous to a motorcycle vs car. That plane is a motorcycle, a Mooney is a car.
  23. do you think hangars help any with corrosion in S Florida? Yes, no water, no corrosion. We get some wicked thunderstorms with 50k winds, you can imagine where the water can end up.
  24. If you can get one...there is a waiting list at most, I would jump at a hangar for $325
  25. What are you struggling with? Works for me. I don't like the way they present weather, but other than that, it is functioning okay. The trip page has change, it's different, they added ATC routing, I think removed overlap of flightplan and trip pages, never a big fan of old trip page, I think I like this better, haven't used it enough yet.
