  1. The case of Philips 50-20 XC oil came with a extension.
  2. If T&Gs are never practiced, what about go arounds? They are basically the same process, and the go around may be unexpected, bad time to try something you've never practiced.
  3. After a heavy rain, one of mine has water in the indicator, is there a way to take off the face so I can dry it out?
  4. I guess your AP is self service?
  5. I bought the PP this year because my backup data card DBs were from 2011, my primary from 2014, I wanted to get my cards current, I will switch back to just nav data unless I'm not planning any cross country, then I would buy nav data individually.
  6. He has PDFs of the logbook on the TAP site.
  7. Wire could be frayed and shorting out on metal, do you have wing mounted lights? Occasional faults are frustrating to track down, good luck!
  8. My understanding is the laminar flow wings retain the boundary layer for most of the wing shape, so they may sit under the boundary layer for some airfoil shapes, but not others. The worst place is the leading edge of a wing, hence TKS and wing mounted landing lights are especially bad in increasing drag. I thought the vortex generators are mounted close to the leading edge, correct me if I'm wrong.
  9. How do you know? Is that based on eyeball estimates, or word of mouth or have you other source of real data? Not criticizing I am really curious as to how reliable is this statement. Wikipedia, tests were done. Remember parasitic drag increases exponentially, hence my estimate on the Mooney drag.
  10. I'm not sure I understand. One can change electrical circuitry to a wig wag system with a log book entry, but changing to LED requires an STC. Has the FAA said this. Is this set out in writing somewhere. Or is this a one FSDO's position. I really think the FAA ought to make an official ruling about these things. Or maybe they have, and I just don't know about it. The Precise wigwag circuitry has a STC that comes with it, your own LED circuitry doesn't, there is no LED STCed replacement.
  11. It's actually January....[emoji1] but you point is correct.
  12. Oh no, they slow you down, there is no free lunch, on a Cessna you'll lose 2 knots, on a Mooney probably 3-5 knots depending on the model.
  13. Or wigwag the lights, prevents the this and makes you more easy to see, just need a log entry.
  14. What about new composite planes: Cirrus, M10? I would think long term exposure to gas would be a problem.
  15. I think in another thread the bladder cost went up, close to $15000 IIRC
  16. A rough calculation, for a 4 hr flight, you'll burn an extra 1.5 gal for an extra 340lbs, so extra fuel will be less, so less than a gallon of fuel, that doesn't include the climb fuel consumption. This is using the tables in the old J POH, I don't like the newer POH with graphs instead of tables.
  17. I would assume that any plane that has been repainted has gained weight. Ditto for any corrosion protection. Probably any avionics upgrade, I doubt shops weigh the new wiring, connectors, etc, they seem to only weigh the boxes.
  18. You would have to drain the fuel tanks completely, kinda of a PITA.
  19. Mine was $95, but I have a hangar and I live in south Florida. I'm going make more of an effort to fill up with inexpensive avgas this year, I average $31.3/hr in fuel alone.
  20. The precise flight 1210/2405 flashing unit is $400, not $1500 and makes a nice solution to those with recognition lights that melt the plastic covers.
  21. I notice 2 different dials, I assume one is for J and 32 tanks and other is for smaller vintage tanks.
  22. Forget the paint color, you want lights, lots of them and bright. Pick a dark color around the underbody to hide the dirt, oil.
  23. Woohoo! AOPA just called, my insurance dropped almost 40%, I guess it pays to fly more [emoji1]
  24. FYI I can see the sky thru your door, was it closed?
  25. I would go thru the logbooks carefully to insure all the owner work has proper sign offs. I would (on any plane) have the owner, broker take you up for a test flight and use that opportunity to check all avionics equipment: do a VOR check, test the radios, etc. Being for sale for 2 years means the plane is overpriced, all sellers think their plane is worth more, too bad it's the buyers who decide how much a plane is worth.
