  1. And probably the heavier models require more frequent replacement.
  2. Or you can run LOP, and burn 8.5 GPH
  3. Only a transponder antenna, no VHF, GPS, etc. Reminds me of a cruise missile.
  4. About 685nm...KVIS to KDMN...the southern route, part of S. Florida to Oregon and back.
  5. The J got a 160lb increase, so there is more than just horsepower to consider
  6. None of those other examples have a warning horn
  7. I have one if you decide to go that route, leftover from a panel upgrade.
  8. The MSC works for the seller, find a mechanic who will represent you. To save some money you can tell the mechanic what to check for. Did you test fly the plane? You should and can save yourself some money by checking avionics, especially the autopilot, lights, the doors shut correctly. Then just have mechanic check for the big ticket items: Fill fuel tanks, check for leaks. Borescope the engine. Corrosion, make sure the wing spar is clean...
  9. Did you try AOPA (or in your case COPA)?
  10. Its tough to see the metal flakes but using a magnet I did pick up a few.
  11. Yes, that is 48110, thanks
  12. Okay, so I did my first oil change and cut the filter, now how do i get the paper part out?
  13. Normally diodes are used to prevent voltage spikes when the relay opens, just in case the RM is on when you try to start the engine. A quick test with voltage meter will tell you if the diode is working. Edit: looking at it i see what you mean, I don't see this but from wiring diagram I should.
  14. I don't think so, the Aspen requires and antenna to be installed which requires the interior to be removed, Plus AP connections, I got 1 quote for 60 hrs for the Aspen
  15. He didn't say he had SV,AOA They already had the plane apart,so that saved $500. They already making connections, probably just a net of extra few hours, if you spend $30K, you get a free installation of an Aspen!
  16. Forget the 440, for 40 get a autopilot, a good AP is almost required for IFR
  17. Are you out of your mind? Is it the buying or the selling that bothers you?
  18. I just got one quote back and it was 64 hrs of labor, about $5000.
  19. I thought of the valve sticking too, but he said cylinders looked clean and only 800 hrs since overhaul, seems a little early for sticking valves, no?
  20. On,off problems like that are usually electrical, since its one cylinder and you replace the harness, did you check the plug resistance? I know you swapped them but it's an easy test. Might want to swap EGT probes while your at it to eliminate a bad probe.
  21. 20 gives you ADSB WX and traffic LPV approaches and basic VOR GS indicator I would think. If you don't need new and WAAS, a used 430 and indicator can be installed for 10.
  22. I was serious, can you PM me your shop name?
  23. $9000, installed? Who is your avionics shop? I can't believe removing, reinstalling interior takes more than 8 hours, so that would add $500? P.S. I've never removed interior so correct me I'm wrong
  24. My understanding is if ATC balks at request to climb, descend, following it up with telling you'll accept a heading change will do the trick, I've never had to try it
  25. FWIW, my 78J annunciator gear down light is white, not green, and it doesn't dim, either by weather nav lights are on, or by dimmer switch, maybe mine was replaced by a new and improved version?
