  1. Thanks Andy!! -Matt
  2. Anyone have the part number for the thicker oring on the caliper for the older Cleveland brakes? The later -224 oring is too thin. Im away from my IPC. It’s at the hangar. I have 5 m/5988/1-224 orings available for the later pucks. thanks! -Matt
  3. I had a post last night going about his coffee experience, then my phone died. I think he is the next shoe In for the Dos Equis guy or President for that matter!! He’s great to have on here. It would be great to meet him one day. -Matt
  4. Used to do pour overs, but the press is easier. -Matt
  5. French press, whole bean, magic bullet ground. Tea kettle is usually full of water. Usually use a nice bean from TJ’s or Kai Hawaiian. Wife of 15 years finally drinks coffee with me. Also, recently started drinking this dandelion root blend. Tastes almost exactly like coffee but healthier. -Matt
  6. Lycon Visalia says they have less/no issues now with the DCL lifters than on the roller tappet engines. The added cost of the roller engine is tough to justify now with a solid treatment process on the cam. I recently sent Lycon a 540. It’s my 5th engine I have sent them. They are still the best shop I have worked with. -Matt
  7. Hi!! Buy a new case from lycoming. Their prices have changed over the last few years to make it worth it. Divco cases will crack again. The pot metal Lycoming used in the 60’s has just seen to many cycles. I’ve been through two case repairs. I would have been ahead by buying a new case. I think a good shop could change the case for under 6k. Cheaper if you have an IA buddy that needs some extra work during these CV19 times. Lol. I just reread my own post from last year, yup still feel the same way. Little bitter about the whole thing still I guess. ;-) -Matt
  8. If you are worried about the alternator failing then pull it off now. It’s cheaper to fix in the hangar now than an AOG trip to Elpaso. I have never had an alternator last 1200hrs on an airplane. A simple inspection now will give piece of mind. 14v sounds acceptable. I have also changed way more batteries directly after I’ve replaced alternators than I care to admit. Aka, was not the alternator. I’ve also had bad batteries damage alternators too. Your guy is not wrong. Any maintainer that wants to pull an alternator is doing you a favor as it’s absolutely no fun to change on a vintage bird. -Matt
  9. I have purchased from these guys as well. https://www.aluminummanufacturers.org/bralco-metals-inc/ Bralco Metals -Matt
  10. Alan Fox has a nice looking E he posted recently! -Matt
  11. The best! Wayne the owner is great. Actually just sent two coolers to them recently! -Matt
  12. Does it have the bead on one of the edges? However, My 16in left over might be 6061. It was hard to find I got it online at some metal shop. I used it to remake the prop gov cable attachment. -Matt
  13. I have a few red and green lenses if needed also Matt
  14. I used to think the same thing about timing, some last longer than others. But most only fail when you mess with them. I’d leave the other side alone until it fails. I’ve also learned to put blankets or foam on the floor each time take a wingtip apart. Whelen chroma lights are really neat for the Navs. I still find the old strobes distract the mind and eyes differently/better than the new led strobes. A true CB would just put another bulb or tube in and fly. Matt
  15. Pull the servo and send it for a repair. Leaks don’t get better. RLB accessory service has always done nice work for me. -Matt
  16. Hi Gary! Nice stuff! Ever sell that C I looked at years ago? I might be interested in a few items. Let me put a list together. Thanks, -Matt
  17. Ahh, looked the same as both canopies departed. -Matt
  18. I don’t get the dates! One is a 2020 article, and the other is 2017???? -Matt
  19. Interesting pictures. Looks like he landed with ordnance on the wing in one picture, then the hero shot has clean pylons. Surprised they didn’t punch the pylons off prior to landing. I Know a few guys that fly them and absolutely love the Jet!! The thing is massive!! -Matt
  20. I’ll take it! -Matt
  21. Never any EBay issues. I’m always hunting parts for cars and airplanes! Most expensive purchase was an $1800 ADI. it was sealed in the factory packaging with an 8130. -Matt
  22. You know how hard it is for the pad to be free of oil? What the heck!! It drips oil until the new filter is installed. :-/ -Matt
  23. I’ve been involved with refinishing two jets. Those numbers are silly. It is impossible to Correctly paint A corporate jet in 3 days. More along the lines of : Day to prep/mask. day to strip day to prime day for body work Sand and fill day to prime/seal day for trim paint day to detail and polish day for decals and polish. That’s with a 19+ person paint shop. The two best paint shops I’ve worked with are Duncan Battle Creek and WestStar Grand Junction. Both jobs were below $180k. Very interested in the OP paint work. Looks really unique with the blue and green. -Matt
  24. I recently was using new tempest filters. Installed per the instructions with out grease or oil. Never again! That sucker was smoking tight! Even when torqued properly. I have a neat oil filter torque wrench I bought years ago that I keep calibrated. AND why do we still use lock wire on them!! Ahhhhhhh!!!!!! Robinson doesn’t use lock wire. I think that’s about as critical as an oil filter install can be! -Matt
  25. Hi Cody, not a genuine replacement But some have used these. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Whelen-A508-14-A508-28-LED-Replacement-CREE-XP-E-10-30VDC-Aero-Lites-/332758645648 Aero-Lights web page doesn’t have the exact one pictured but I think it’s the same light I don’t have the requirement for that type of light in my airplane but I do have a few that I work in that require them. I’ve hunted some in auto parts stores,” pilot” makes One but it’s a blade style with no true trailing light. All were smokin bright!! I’ve seen the stock bulbs melt plastic! Dumb! There was thread on MS about the same lamps. -Matt
