  1. AWI lists an exchange for $1600 if I recall. However, Alan Fox May have one available. Where are you located? I know a few welders. -Matt
  2. Landing Factors we can use are 1.0 Unfactored 1.67, dry. 1.92 wet, 2.42 contaminated. Mainly for part 25 certified aircraft, and part 135 ops. Why not listen to what part 135 &121 does? This SAFO 19001 gives a good discription. In 2015 the definition changed to the stupid “if it’s not dry, it’s wet” https://www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviation_industry/airline_operators/airline_safety/safo/all_safos/media/2019/SAFO19001.pdf Good Stuff! It gets complex quickly! Adding wind corrections and gust factors, the runway goes away fast! -Matt
  3. Did both our Sequoia and my 335D. For $15 bucks I was thinking it was expensive bug juice. However, it actually is the only thing I’ve ever used that blends the cobwebs in black paint nicely. I’ve always had black cars and battled Cobwebs constantly. This fluid (C2 Liquid Cristal) appears to fill them and leave a nice finish. Thanks for the recommendation PJ! -Matt
  4. Yup-that’s why I found a used mount... It wasn’t for the Mooney but the used mount had less hrs than the one I needed to repair. Fresh paint and good to go! -Matt
  5. There is an AD that called for another tube to be welded around the existing tube. Your’s appears to be missing that weld. I would have another IA do an AD compliance check on the airplane. As for engine mount repairs. AWI is good but they wouldn’t return my calls earlier this year. Might check with Alan Fox for a used mount. -Matt
  6. Well his crankcase has additional ventilation for sure now. I don’t understand the correlation, unless it sucked the engine dry of oil and the engine lost a rod due to oil starvation. How does a failed gov. Blow a hole in the case unless it overspeeds? -Matt
  7. Overspeed? Fast airplanes need Counterweight props! -Matt
  8. Best anti-scratch device is myself. I don’t let line service fuel any aircraft. -Matt
  9. That’s crazy. Williams airmotive in Indiana has a great YouTube video on the Piper spar corrosion Issues. They have a kit to fix it. I watched Paul, The founder, cut, match drill, and roll a center Mooney wing skin all by by hand one afternoon. Neat experience that I’ll remember forever. -Matt
  10. Looks like the hose to the defroster. it can wait just verify it’s not going to get caught in the flight controls. -Matt
  11. It needs to be removed and cleaned annually. It’s the last place to get contaminants out of the fuel prior to the engine. On the duke fuel pumps, there is one more screen to catch debris from the pump if the pump fails. On the older airplanes it’s a bit of a pain, I jack mine, retract the gear, remove the left cowl “exhaust” panel, (the screws are hard to get to with out scratching paint if the nose gear door is open.) then pull the gascolator apart. Remove the seal and clean the screen. I have often thought about splitting that lower panel as I keep mine sealed against the firewall. Splitting it would allow you to keep the front half sealed to the Firewall. Anyway, I just find it hard to believe that seal deteriorated in a year On the OP Airplane. -Matt
  12. Geez, Im kinda tired of this MSC business. The Piper and Cessna screen (edit seal)are both too thick and lip out when you go to tighten. I believe it’s 1/16 thick. Brown does a nice job. -Matt
  13. Find a new IA as well. He’s not doing you any favors by not checking it annually. -Matt
  14. Holy crap! Brown aircraft can make the seals to fit. just tell them you have a Mooney gascolator. replace the stat-o-seal washer too. 15in lbs. -Matt
  15. That was a great Bravo I used to fly! ;-) -Matt
  16. Matt, let me check if we still have our old DG. -Matt
  17. You could take foam, cut to size then RTV the snot out of it. maybe some of the same material that you dip plier handles in? -Matt
  18. Thanks, It does have the same clock. I even replaced the bulb a few years ago! Lol. -Matt
  19. Ahh, I didn’t know that, I always thought they all had the same engine issue. Some Day. My 944 will need to last a little longer. Just rebuilt the engine. -Matt
  20. Looks great! MT! What colors codes again? -Matt
  21. That’s the best! I bet there will be more than a gaggle that flyin! -Matt
  22. Jack is great!! Now my years attending will finally match my age. -Matt
  23. Controller used incorrect phraseology. -Matt
  24. There is a black 996 C4 on eBay. 40k mi 27k Buy it now price. Non-Turbo, but I’d be happy to drive it to Denver for you from SoCal! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F143593223217 :-) :-) -Matt
