  1. Aeroplex only manages a few larger corporate hangars on the north side. They have a few smaller hangars on the north side as well. You’ll need to call the city airport office directly for their hangars. Also try The Barkers. Bob Barkers wife runs a few hangar rows on the south side. -Matt
  2. Currently Working at SMO for the past 13 years. I wouldn’t say corrosion is horrible. Keep it clean and waxed and you’ll be good. Cover is a must. CMA is dustier than SMO. Mixed in with the ocean breeze at CMA and I feel CMA is worse than SMO. SMO City hangars are still available. Aeroplex group runs some of the nicer hangars. Atlantic no longer controls the lease. City controls the lease on almost everything. All in all, it’s an awesome little airport. -Matt
  3. What did we leave at Bagram? That really hasn’t hit the press. -Matt
  4. Easy now, the issue will be.. Unless they are not rated for fluid and they will leak like crazy after 9years. I replaced mine with an oil line. The problem with a full size line is that it won’t clear the belly stringer. A Teflon line would be thinner and help with the install logistics. just went through this on mine, -Matt
  5. Parker can I give you a pilot form this year? Currently with Global through Falcon and wanted you to take a swing at it. I don’t want to fowl the process up so please advise. Global sent their automated rate increase email but won’t tell you how much until the new form is is run. 39yo, Hangared, 40k Hull, Interested in more liability than hull, ATP 2500. Dec 3 renewal date. thanks!! -Matt
  6. Go get it! later prop, the guy cares enough to put wing covers on. -Matt
  7. I would completely loose my head if I dropped mine or if someone else dropped it. -Matt
  8. All good. The runway is a little nicer than before. Not much. Lunch is still great. Landing fee went up. Need to climb up to the tower to pay the man. Great hiking right around the airport. -Matt
  9. MEK is less harsh than any simple green. MEK won’t touch exhaust staining of antennas. Extreme SG takes it right off. :-) -Matt
  10. Aeroshell 100+. been using it since it came out. I often have the same question, but have found nothing compelling to switch to 20/50. The new Phillips victory has the Lycoming additive and is cheaper but 100plus has been great in my book. Also southwest based, -Matt
  11. No longer Available. -Matt
  12. The avionics shops have special test units that can receive the 406 signal and stamp the hex code. There are resistors involved with installing dummy antennas so it doesn’t want to transmit. That’s really the only way to read the hex code with the lat long. The other way is to get a call from the NOAA/USAF. It will normally come up 1 (800) 851-3051 for false alarms. -Matt
  13. I’ll check what model didn’t fit on my airplane. I was surprised. Talked to the B&C rep at Oshkosh. I said I had a fit issue… he responded with “was it on a Mooney?” Lol. -Matt
  14. Looks great! Awesome display of how slightly older Equiptment still allows great capability and looks fantastic!! Keep ForeFlight. You Can’t bring your 530 to the hotel with you. :-) -Matt
  15. Can’t comment on the exact starter cable length. My LS starter died just prior to OSH. I installed a 149NL, and the cable length didn’t need to be adjusted. You may need to modify the fwd baffling. For the record. The B&C starter will not fit. It hits the fuel servo by about an 1/8”. I had a spare and thought hey that will work. Nope! B&C internals are far better. Skytec uses plastic parts in the starter. -Matt
  16. I want the tail strobe off of a Blackhawk helicopter for my belly! Those are so fricking bright!! Love the delay and bright white intensity!! -Matt
  17. The entire registration process is a shame. For the 5 bucks they make on it they spend thousands tracking down lost registrations. Just leave it alone. I have had only one clean renewal on my Mooney. Just recently at work went through this for an airplane. Such a pain. -Matt
  18. Hi! Disconnect the starter lead, And set up a volt meter to the lead. Place it in view from the cockpit windows. see if you have voltage at the starter lead when you crank. That will tell a lot. -Matt
  19. Fine bunch. They were based out of McDill AFB. Got to know a few of them. They would house the Airshow aircraft during the show in their hangar. Their twin otter platform was cool. The old P3’s went by names of miss Piggy and Kermit respectively. They have a few Wild GIV’s that rotate out of Hawaii . I’ve chatted with them a few times. Neat Group. -Matt
  20. Pre 65 airplanes only for the interior window trim. Seats etc would would for most models. -Matt
  21. Ahh, I Didn’t think so! -Matt
  22. So based on this thread. A repair station can sign off the 91.413 transponder test with their test Equiptment. Myself as an A&P can sign off the .411 static test? I’ve always thought that the 91.411 was required for IFR certification to be done by the repair station. So basically, when Sandia Fixes their software glitch. I can reinstall the sandia, leak test and sign the .411. And be legal for IFR flight. Thus eliminating the expense and signature from the avionics shop? Cool! -Matt
  23. My Jpi fuel meter does the same. I’ve learned to deal with it. I’m not sure one can change it. It’s wired to my 530 and is accurate to .2 gal. -Matt
  24. I love the pair that was given to me. Just flew with a Bose A20 yesterday and it felt like I was wearing a helmet! The headset is amazing. Till getting used to re-positioning the mic but the over fatigue level of wearing a headset all day is gone. -Matt
