  1. Did you meet the Pietsch’s yet? Sorry for your troubles. You are being walked all over. These airplanes take years to line out from lack of maintenance. Mine took 3 years of only me working on it prior me putting my family in it. Now 11 years in I have a machine that I just took on a squawk free 4600nm trip. Doing it right takes time. There is Probably not 20 IA’s in the state of ND so that’s not exactly helping. Seems like the funds are there for you to keep it. Just need to solve the people problem. Once you get it lined out is cheaper annually than a BMW. Might look into your A&P. -Matt
  2. Ooh, a piece of stainless would be sweet! -Matt
  3. If something falls through I’d be happy to do it for you. 11 year M20E owner. ATP/IA. I live between VNY and CMA. -Matt
  4. Take a small screwdriver and check all the tiny interior screws. build a checklist in the gns 430/530. What a pain. try going pee in a container listing to center. Negative Auto pilot. Lol! micro manage your fuel to the 10th gallon. -Matt
  5. I Bought some grease from LASAR this summer. Less Mess, -Matt
  6. That’s a direct replacement for the 77852 lycoming adaptor. The champion CH48110, CH48110-1, and Tempest’s AA48110-2. not even sure you can buy a straight 110 filter anymore. Design change made them slightly shorter years ago. This going to the -1 & -2 respectfully. stumbled across this marketing letter from champion. -Matt https://www.championaerospace.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Oil-Filters-vs-Tempest-Competitive-Analysis.pdf
  7. Some engine shops will buy cylinders in bulk from Japan. They have an 800hr life limit over there. I would buy a reconditioned 800hr cylinder all day. probably better than having infant mortality with anything new from lycoming. Also better than having cracked, welded, heat soaked, 5000hr cylinders. -Matt
  8. Tell the MSC thank you, pay the bill after they sign the annual. It was 20 years ago. 20 years ago they didn’t have the internet pouring over log entry opinions. It was a crap entry, but I would take it as an overhaul if you asked me. Now, arguing over a 20 yo log entry is a bit silly if you ask me. Field overhaul entries should list the current SB 240 XYZ revenant at the time. -Matt IA/ATP
  9. I’m sure Lycon will do the work locally at the airport. They may still have their hangar. -Matt
  10. Has anyone seen a fading or darkening of the clear “glass” / Plastic? Other makers products turn yellow really quickly. I’d be pissed. :-). I Haven't seen a yellowed whelen yet. -Matt
  11. Looks like I’ll owe Don a lunch! :-) -Matt
  12. Thanks Don, I think the issue is how to get the long -3 bolt out of the airplane through the tail skin. I’ve had the nut off but the bolt hits the sidewall. -Matt
  13. My aft Rudder bell crank is a little sloppy. Love to change the bearing in it. But I’ve struggled for a long time to remove it, and refuse to pay anyone else to figure it out. I’ve been told there are access holes in the H-Stab for access with a 3/8 socket. However, I have an early E and I think they forgot to drill the holes in the H-stab rib as mine doesn’t have the holes. I can get the nut off but the bolt hits the side wall… detailed pictures would be helpful. -Matt
  14. I’d be happy to move the airplane for you. However, it would need to be after 8/16. -Matt ATP/IA
  15. The Pietsch Brothers are amazing people. I’ve personally know Warren for 15 years. They are refocusing their business on building their FBO. Give them a call. They have been involved with Mooney since the beginning. -Matt
  16. Nothing I’ve seen works well. I’m about to start making parts to complete mine. that Ashby looks like it will only work with the stock panel and not the 201 panel. -matt
  17. 3rd in line if it falls through! thanks -Matt
  18. Bose are pretty noisy in the Mooney. I just flew 2000nm in our M20e with clarity aloft and I felt great. Noise fatigue was much better than the Bose I’ve had for the last few years. I always hated putting things in my ears but just something you need to get used to. I was not hearing well in the Falcon at work either. My coworker and I now ware the same clarity alofts and we here each other much better. -Matt
  19. So I just went through this. A few times… Plane parts sells the kit for the paramount V1-625 brakes. They supply the oring for the popit valve. However, the oring is pressed into the brass housing. That spring washer you mention cracks internally too. Finally, there are different thickness of retaining washers. I caution The Beech 33 drawings are not correct if you find them on the Internet. Bob at plane parts sells oring kits. Bill Goetschel will rebuild your master cylinders for you. I was at my whits end with one of mine. I bought a refurbished one from Bill. There are a few tricks that are important. This is the only master cylinder I have ever worked on that is this tricky. Bill developed a way to rebuild the popit valve. He bought every paramount brake part that wentworth aircraft had. He has a good supply of parts and is well versed. He’s been rebuilding the cylinders for 4 years. I recently worked with bill and explained some things that could be improved upon. Please contact him. Awesome guy. tell him I sent you his way. Bill can be reached at: carolannegoetschel@yahoo.com +1 (507) 581-9761 -Matt IA, ATP
  20. Not a CFI but could show you how to operate your airplane safely. dual brakes? Boss frequents Nashville, we use JWN and BNA depending on weather. Should be in Nashville. 8/2-8/18. Might come back home. 11 year M20E owner, ATP & IA. -Matt
  21. Wow! You still have the firewall blanket fabric still intact! ;-) -Matt
  22. I’ve tankered a little gas to get an hour down range on departure. I like being as light as I can on the grass with an aftish CG. Ive had good luck with staging an hour or so out on the way into the convention. That way one really knows their fuel situation. Each year a few airplanes are lost due to fuel starvation. Sunscreen and credit cards. You won’t see a quarter of the items if just staying one day. But one day should be enough for the fam if they are not into it. Have Fun, -Matt
  23. Lycon! Even with the 5mo wait! They do awesome work. I’ve done 6 or 7 engines with them. Zero issues. -Matt
  24. 1st time! We’ll that was interesting! Purging the pump takes awhile. I thought I could get away with out bleeding when I changed my supply hose. Nope. Everything you read kinda makes sense but it’s all vague. The pressure pot needs to be removed and capped. Not just turned off. Then one can bleed the system after the air is purged with the pot. Sorta like bleeding brakes. Fixing another (hopefully last) screwup from Muncie Aviation They installed a 139 instrument hose for the flap supply line. It was sweating 5606. :-/ -Matt
