  1. Maybe I missed this above.....and this is so basic I'm reluctant to ask. When do you top off your oil, and to what level? If you fill your oil above 7qt, that first quart will leave pretty quickly.
  2. In general, glasses likely provide more protection than gloves, assuming you have appropriate self control on what you touch.
  3. translation - a comfy 72 degrees
  4. Fedex air cargo volume is strong. The aircraft at Victorville have been mothballed there for several years or more, and are planes retired due to obsolescence. There's a large number of 727s, which Fedex hasn't flown since 2002/3. They retired their last A310 this past January. Nothing to do with cargo volumes. They currently have >70 B767/777s on order.
  5. Have you inspected the connectors on the 430? Maybe give it a quick spray with contact cleaner.
  6. Hi Bob,

Hope you & Nancy are doing ok.  Becky & I missed the last Summit.

Is your E still on the market?

Yes. I have 2 buyers ready to jump when I say it's time.

I should have moved faster.  I wasn't certain I could find a hangar, so delayed.

  7. As I posted above my closed loop dryer, with maybe 3x the amount of desiccant Rick uses, easily lasted 4 months in the humid Memphis summer.
  8. I've done dozens of dog rescue flight in both an E and C. I have used up to 3 collapsible carriers in the luggage compartment when puppies and small breeds were involved. When transporting a larger dog, I cover the rear seat with an old comforter or mattress cover and use a harness designed to accept the rear bench seat belt. There are several different types of restraints that can be used. The crates I do have will only fit in the rear seat if the passenger seat is moved all the way forward, and I don't like flying in that configuration. When my wife & I traveled to NJ and MA, we frequently took rescue dogs from MS & TN. I can recall a transport to the Hudson River valley, where the mother dog sat harnessed to the rear seat and 5 pups rode in 2 soft sided crates in baggage,. That was in addition to my wife and our luggage for a week. My record number of dog was a post-Katrina rescue; my wife & I flew 8 small dogs from KNEW to KAWM.
  9. Back in 2012, when I stored my 64E for 4 hot & humid Memphis summer months, I build a simple (i.e. cheap) closed loop dryer using a 1 gallon clear plastic container and an aquarium air pump. Air in the oil dip and out the breather tube. I placed a bit of fiberglass mat between the air return and the desiccant. After 4 months there was no visible contaminant on the pre-filter. The desiccant was only about half spent. If I had used an open system as opposed to closed loop, I'm confident the desiccant would have been spent prior to the end of the 4 month period. PS - don't stress over the breather bleed hole. The flow out will be relatively insignificant, due to the relative low differential pressure at the point.
  10. Do you have a separate voltage regulator? Is it a mechanical VR? PS - EricJ & I had a mind meld
  11. My first and last visit was during my first xc flight after passing my private flight test. In a club C182 based at KIAG, in 1972. After watching the video it looks like there’s been a few upgrades. Maybe it’s time for a revisit. .
  12. Not saying you have this problem, but a few flight hours after an annual by a well respected MSC I had the same observation. In may case, a mag had come loose and was literally hanging on.
  13. Not if, as result of that "bender" they have "an alcohol concentration of 0.04 or greater in a blood or breath specimen. "
  14. KTGI was a favorite lunch destination when I was based at KPVG (and when I still had a Mooney). Did you lunch at Hilda Crockett's?
  15. I easily changed a dozen Tempest oil filters on my former M20C (and M20E before that). Never installed with a torque wrench. Never had a leak at filter after install. Never a reason to use bad words when removing used filter. I must be doing something wrong?
  16. I don't disagree with your sentiment, but always maybe somewhat extreme. I've had two Mooney partnerships, for a total of 12 years, and that doesn't describe my experience. Sure there were differences, but not to the extreme you imply. I guess I was just lucky. Twice.
  17. Is that the replacement for N526AM? http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2016/09/mooney-m20j-fatal-accident-occurred.html
  18. If that's the case, then explain the example I provided? I know the data in that example is real and accurate. Just maybe when a Basic Med applicant completes the online test, i.e. via AOPA, the data is shared with the FAA.
  19. Here's an example from the FAA Airmen Registry:
  20. Now that I'm Mooneyless, Yogi can't enter the DOY competition. Here he is on his return flight from the 2014 MAPA Homecoming at Kerrville.
  21. OK, you have a unique definition since the legal definition is a minor. When my daughter was 12 I certainly considered her a child.
  22. Not sure what you consider a child. In China the death rate in the 10-19 year age range was 0.2%.
  23. Accepted estimates of deaths during the 1918-1919 Spanish Flu pandemic range from 50-100 million. The global population was 1.5-1.7 billion. That implies that it "only" killed at a minimum one out of 35 people, and possibly as many as 1 in 15. You might feel that's not a BFD, but other's here might disagree.
  24. I know 1 who is currently undergoing treatment. He's relatively young and otherwise healthy, but I'm not aware of his condition. My stepson & his wife were exposed, so they are currently in quarantine along with our 2 grandchildren.
