I am looking for a partnumber and/or company to buy a Rear Seat Schoulder safety seat belts on my 1978 M20J..?

I will be flying with my kids 6&4yrs and in order to be more safe I would like to add this feature...

In fact the situation would be a Kid Seat on top of the existing bench (like in the car). Any feedback on this much aprreciated.

Hope this will not be a again an EASA minor change approval..?

cheers

FYI

Called MSC not possible on a 1978 m20J as the airframe needs a modification.....

Maybe there is an STC, but that is surely going to be an expensive one...

I concur with Michael,

Seat belt holds the child's chair or booster seat.  4 point harness of the kid's seat holds the kid...

That's the way we did it through the 4 and 6 year stage...

Thanks for the feedback. Yes guys are right it seems that there are special kid "mooniac..;-)" seats available with there own dedicated straps...

I already flew with my kids  in my motorglider, but it has a four point harness ..;-)

I will leave the rear belts as is, though I was hoping it could be possible to install also a shoulder harness on the back seat. With the existing tubular structure on the older mooneys not possible according factory support...maybe trough an STC..But that would impose structural welding and this is definatly not a minor change approval according EASA or even FAA IMHO

IMHO there is a mod for older Mooneys available, but I can't find the website anymore. Have you called LASAR?

Hi Magnus,

There is a solution for the front seat when no bracket is available see top right clamp solution, however for the back I need to check if this is possible if the chrommolybdeen tube is similar (after panel removal) as on the front seats the clamp system could be a solution...valid till 24-0629

Called indeed LASAR though the reply was" could be a solution....???..."

Any confirmition from other early M20J's on this is welcomed, before going any further?
