Engine stalls during turns while taxiing

Are any of you long experienced Mooney owners aware of any such phenomenom.

Have experienced this on many Continental engines. Especially the 252. Dont recall it happening on a Lyc. Happened to me just today on an Ovation.

Setting up the fuel flow again helped the issue, though.

Reviving an old thread here.  As a new 252 driver and therefore Conti owner, I've just experienced this same issue.  Left/Right turning doesn't have anything to do with it. But in the first five flights, it's stalled on the taxiway leaving the runway twice.  It's got Gami's and I'm guessing the fuel system needs some adjustment.

In the mean time, I'm going to land/taxi full rich and see if that has any effect.

Do you have to be moving, or just the application of pedals does it? If later maybe something is pinching a fuel line?

The other day, I had to push the throttle way, way forward to start moving in the ramp. I was thinking, man, am I that heavy? The ramp looks pretty flat. The. I saw the mixture, advanced it a half inch and we were off to the races!

Sounds like you need to have TCM SID97-3G carried out on your engine.

Fuel and idle settings are key, but also remember that you have a 'closed' turbo system. In other words, when the turbo is slowing down there is less pressure to the induction system, which in turn means less exhaust, which further slows the turbo, etc. I usually put a quarter turn of the throttle in after landing and idle around 850-900 rpm. Btw, my plane's serial# is 3 after yours but has been upgraded to the -SB engine and has TKS. Good luck.

I had this happen on an Ovation. Had the fuel system adjusted, still did it. A new set of standard Tempest massive electrode plugs (roughly $300) completely took care of it. I think taxiing full rich will only make it worse.
