robert7467 Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Well, I am ready for my license to learn, and I did it in my beautiful Mooney. I would like to thank everyone on here for the advice you have given me. 2 Quote
Hank Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Woo-hooo! Have a good flight! Rest up on Friday evening, and don't even think about airplanes . . . if you can. Quote
robert7467 Posted March 26, 2013 Author Report Posted March 26, 2013 Dont think about airplanes the night before? That might be the hardest part of my checkride. Quote
carusoam Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Before - eat normally, hit the bathroom often... During - Breathe, think, repeat... After - follow procedures until after the plane is tied down and locked up. Celebrate, start training.... Good luck, -a- Quote
co2bruce Posted March 26, 2013 Report Posted March 26, 2013 Your ready! Instructor signed you off, your more than ready. Just relax and fly the airplane. You'll do great. Congrats. Quote

bd32322 Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Good luck! I have heard of very few people learning to fly in a Mooney ! Quote
bnicolette Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Congratulations in advance Robert. Welcome to the club!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Quote
fantom Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Stay relaxed, rely on your training, and you'll have the ticket Saturday afternoon! Quote
PTK Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Congratulations in advance Robert! Remember to talk and announce out loud everything you feel and see on your instruments. If you see something going wrong, acknowledge it and most importantly act to correct it immediately. You'll do great! Quote
robert7467 Posted March 27, 2013 Author Report Posted March 27, 2013 I got the jitters on the oral portion, but I think I will be fine.... Quote
WardHolbrook Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 Just answer the examiner's questions concisely without telling him more than you know. In other words, just answer his question and don't elaborate unless he asks for it. If you go on and on, it won't take long before your answer outstrips your knowledge and you'll be in trouble. You'll do just fine. Your CFI wouldn't recommend you if you weren't ready. Relax and enjoy the process. Quote
RJBrown Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 I don't know about others but I was so over prepared that the check ride was a non event. My instructor was much harder on me than the Designated Examiner. This was true of PP, IFR and MEL/IFR. Quote

Marauder Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 Just make sure you don't mention us knuckleheads and our discussion with you about landing speeds! Good luck! 1 Quote
robert7467 Posted March 28, 2013 Author Report Posted March 28, 2013 I am sure I will do fine... Just a little nervous... Quote
scottfromiowa Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 I remember on my check ride on landing rollout he asked me if I could make the first exit. I would have had to smoke the brakes to do it. I said "unable". He did not say a word. Always felt he was checking my decision making. Focus, but have fun showing you were trained well and are competent. Don't get rattled. You are ready or you would not be there. Congrats. My check ride was by a WW II P-38 pilot. Pretty cool Quote

Marauder Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Robert - How did your check ride go? Considering how slow some of us were telling him to fly final, I suspect it will be a while before he reports back. 1 Quote

kmyfm20s Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 Considering how slow some of us were telling him to fly final, I suspect it will be a while before he reports back. Either that or he is still in ground effect and trying to bleed off speed:) Quote
robert7467 Posted April 22, 2013 Author Report Posted April 22, 2013 Went in a couple weeks ago, and got the oral out of the way (4hrs), and as far as the flying portion, bad weather moved in, and we have to resched. He went out of town for a couple weeks. Will advise. Quote
Marauder Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Thanks for keeping us informed. Interested in hearing how it goes. Quote
robert7467 Posted May 14, 2013 Author Report Posted May 14, 2013 Well, finally after weather and sched issues, I took my checkride and passed. Quote
