I have the cowl flap mechanism you are looking for.  It consists of a horizontal steel bar that clamps onto the engine mount and has one rod on each side that reaches down to operate the cowl flaps.  You can e-mail me at johnabreda@yahoo.com  or call me at (617) 877-0025.
