I've heard lots of guys say how bad mooney mart and mooneyland are and the amounts they charge for "aircraft location fees" are just rediculous.  I've had experience with both and have not been impressed.

If any perspective mooney buyer wants some help evaluating a plane, send me a PM.  I'll look at the online info, log book docuements and annual reciepts via email and give you my opinion for free.  If you live near the east coast of the US, I'd also be happy to go look at the bird with you, just cover my gas expenses.

Trig,

reminder: consider checking the dates on posts when replying…  the two companies mentioned, unfortunately, and their leaders have flown west years ago…

George’s advice has passed the test of time, over and over…

George has always been a very busy person… haven’t seen him in a year.  But, your invite may just have him stop In…

George has a deep relationship with aviation… from flying F-18s in far away places to running the safety organization at AOPA…. Last seen heading up a large commercial flying project…?

Stand by, see if he stops in…

George updated a very nice M20F in the midst of traveling the world for work… :)

Best regards,

This is an old post, but my thanks to the writer and those who commented! It’s 2021 and costs need updating. I’m seeing M20C starting around $40K and J’s starting around $100k going to around 140k before they get decent. Avionics upgrades - full panels are $40K or more, exterior paint - $15k and around the same for interiors. $500/mo for a hanger and low time Mooney owners may see $3,000 annual insurance premiums! I won’t even get into annuals, routine maintenance... I would say, have access to $40k to $100k after purchasing the plane.
