I just got my M20F back to Canada and got it out of its Annual inspect.... So now it's time to fly. To do that I need to get one of the many cell triggered switches available to operate my Tanis preheater.

I was told that there are some selling for $150 but I haven't found any such beasts.

If anyone knows where the best deal is, let me know.

Thanks!

I got a switch box from Phillip Angert. phillip@phillipangert.com He was the vendor on this site. You simply send a text message to turn it on or off. We've used it several times this fall and it works very. I'm happy with it since I have to drive over 30 minutes to the airport. Good luck.

Just ordered one of these as a Turkey Day gift to myself. I'll give a full report after I get it and have it up and working :) Went with the one from Phillip.

a little off topic, but i'm just over in kenora and was wondering where you had your annual done - my last one was at a MSC in calgary when i bought the plane, and i recently had some work done at willmar MSC (but we can't have annuals done there as i understand it, must be done in canada)

anyway nice to see another mooney so close by

I just put mine into use (from Phillip). It works as advertised and quite well so far. I operate a Reiff heater and ceramic interior heater off of it. Ordered covers from Kennon which have yet to arrive.

Hi Scopes,

I had mine done by Maple Leaf Aviation in Brandon because that is where I had the import inspection done ask for Dave if you go there. There are a few places that do annuals in St. Andrews though and that would be a shorter hop for you. If you want me to shoot you some names and numbers just let me know.

We should put together a fly-in someplace and do lunch. :)

On the Remote... I'm still looking for a lower priced option if anyone comes across one

Hey Scoops, I would like to retract any recommendation for Maple Leaf in Brandon. I would NOT go back personally. There are lots in St. Andrews though.

Does anyone from Canada other than the Lower Ontario region have one of the phillip ones? I heard they work up here but I am cautious because I've been burned before on the "oh ya it'll work fine for you" line. :)

Anyone know what he is charging for his now?

Thanks

Mine works like a charm. His price is cheaper than others I've read about, and requires no work, just plug it in. There are now iPhone & droid apps to control it too.

that one will work, but you will have to get a simm card from local provider etc. It also has an internal antenna. Probably won't work if you have a metal hanger. Phillips box comes with completely wired (with 2 outlets) activated simm card and aux ext ant that can be mounted outside of a metal building. His price is the same as sporty's with ohe outlet, no simm card and no ext ant.

I talked to the seller before buying it and he sold me a new model, with ext antennae for the same price.

I have to wire it to plugs (5 min work) and pick a pay as you go cell plan but that way I know what coverage I am going to get based on the provider I choose. There is a small charge to activate the plan but depending on the carrier it is pretty cheap ( under $20). I also have to buy a SIM card but I did that from eBay for $3 with free shipping.

The new model is AC and has 2 - 30amp relays so it should work well for my setup with Tanis preheat and a cabin warmer.

One outlet is phone activated and the other is text controlled.

He shipped it the same day I ordered it so i should be able to comment back soon on its functionality.

Overall the seller has been awesome so far and my total cost should be well under $175 total.

Ill try to post a full run down after installed.

Thanks

Shawn
