There are some other threads on lenses… possibly from gallager aviation or the folks that make the plexiglass windows.  I also think there’s a thread on cutting your own if it’s the nose one and not the wing.

Which one do you need?

Hi

Am looking for the wing ones, I just emailed Knots2U to see if they have any.

Thanks

@waked Call GLAP.  If you don't need the lens immediately you can order a lens, find out their current turn around and then mail in your current lens for them to use as a template.  GLAP won't drill your mounting holes, but they'll trim the lens to size.  All you then need is to buy an acrylic drill bit, mark center holes with sharpie and drill out gently.

Also take the opportunity to replace the screws and tinnerman washers and make sure you don't overtorque the screws when fastening.

EDIT:  if you purchase an off the shelf lens from GLAP, Knots2U, Gallagher...they are always sold slightly oversized and you'll have to trim it to fit.  This is usually the most difficult part to make it uniform and not crack the lens in the process.  When I replaced my wingtip lenses I had my shop do it and they cracked one drilling it...if you're not sure of how to do this it might pay off to have a shop do it so that if they break it they are the ones replacing.

+1 for going with GLAP and sending them the old lens and having them cut it to size. Every time I've done it on a Mooney, it has made for a great fit every time.

Dear All,

Thank you so much, you've been very helpful, I found them at Knots2U, will order them soon and hopefully won't crack them.

Great Lakes Aero Products (GLAP)makes them for Mooney. You can order directly or from other dealers like Knots2.  GLAP will trim them to size if you send your old ones.

They are made of Lexan (polycarbonate). They crack if the screws are overtightened. Unless you have GLAP trim them, they will have to be trimmed to size and the holes drilled. It’s not difficult but it is time consuming. Lexan is softer than acrylic but doesn’t shatter and won’t crack as easily when you drill it. Still, I’d use a step drill for the holes.
