Had my tanks completely resealed 18 years ago by Willmar. The right tank has developed a pretty severe leak staining the gear strut, the entire seam along the landing gear, the access panel. I tried patching at Chandler a year or so ago ...no joy. I am very very reluctant to fly back to Willmar, Florida or Texas to reseal the tank. Are there any other options I am unaware of?

At least get Paul Beck from Weep No More in Willmar on the phone and send him some pictures.

You might also put some pictures on here.

If you wanted to try another patch, Advanced in Troutdale Oregon is real good.  Greg used to do full reseals but just does patching now, but he’s really good at fuel tanks and good to work with.

First post here….  I have the same staining problem but on the seams, on top of my left wing.  I assume the same advice will be given.  I’m in Central Texas. I also have the actuator AD coming up, any advice.   Please forgive my lack of articulation.

I suspect this is beyond a patch but I will give him a call and send pics

Possibly the word "patch" implies a small area to be dealt with.  Greg is excellent at patching beyond a small area.  He's excellent!

Maxwells is doing some tank work as well and they’re in Texas.  He could give you a good idea.  I’ve also heard that Houston tank specialist is doing mooney tanks but I have no experience with them.

What actuator are you asking about?  Landing gear no back spring?

Don’t think of it as a patch. There is nothing in the service manual about patching a tank. It is not approved anywhere.

What is approved is resealing a portion of the tank.

The OP’s profile says “M20E”. I was wondering the same thing. I know of a Service Bulletin on the Dukes actuator but not of an AD.

The SB is M20-190B (and M20-191)

The ADs are 75-23-04 (Duke's), and 75-04-09 (ITT)

As stated before, contact Paul beck at Weep No More, he sealed the tanks in the first place, his warranty is 7 years and he stands behind his work, he may be interested in understanding what happened here and why and he is one of the most competent people to fix the problem

Not really.  Top of the wing if it is a screw (usually is) then pull the screw put some permatex #3 on it and replace the screw.   Start a thread with pictures and advice will be given.

CAN"T FLY IT?   How about empty right tank and fly only on the left tank?

More stops but safe to do.  Make a fun trip  out of it with 1 1/2 hr legs. Stop and smell the roses. Visit new airports

Houston Tank does a good job but he's 3 months out  like most all of them are.
