Scott Aviation Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 Hey there, I've got a 201 that Im currently restoring and was taking the wing inspection panels off for cleaning and noticed very light surface corrossion throughout the wing, I was wondering if this is common for a late 70's mooney and if its fine or if it needs attention, Ive attached pictures, any comments would be much appreciated.

Piloto Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Nothing to worry about, it is very common on that vintage. Recommend to check bottom wing spar cap at cenetr section. If plane is park outside this is where all the moisture collect. Also check cabin side structural tube members. Wheel wells spar section are prone to corrosion, check vertical stiffners. Spray these areas with a corrosion inhibitor at annual time. José

MooneyPilot231 Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 That is nothing. It is caused by condensation inside the wing and any 30 year old plane will have that. Really nothing to worry about.
