This is an awesome inflight video of the Pan-Am 747. As you recall, in 1965, Juan Trippe, Pan Am Chairman of the Board, wanted a new, larger,  intercontinental airplane that would dominate the skies.  By 1965, Boeing folks worked up a proposal, and selected a conference room that matched the width of the fuselage. They showed them the drawings, and someone from the airline asked "just how big are we talking?"  "It's as wide as this room..."  They ordered the first 25.....

N740PA was delivered in 1970 to Pan Am, immediately leased to AA as their first 747 for a year then returned to Pan Am in 1971 as Clipper Rival.  In 1980, she was renamed Clipper Ocean Pearl. She made it until 1990, spent 2 years in the desert at Marana, then went on to Tower Air as N613FF, was grounded in 1996 in JFK, and lasted at least until 2000.

Video was shot in the mid 1980s by Clay Lacey from a Learjet.
