BigTex Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Guys - Just curious if everyone logs oil additions and topoffs and if so, what log book do you use? Right now I make a note in the flight logbook but started thinking maybe I should log these additions in the engine log book where the oil changes go. What's everyone else doing? Quote
danb35 Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 I keep a fuel/oil log in a separate spreadsheet. I don't consider adding a quart as a maintenance item, so I don't see a need to enter it in the mx records, but I still keep track of how much oil the plane is using. Quote
Cruiser Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 I have a separate notebook for logging oil addition, VOR check and database updates that I keep in the plane. It is a small bound notebook I divided into its different sections for each. It is stored in the seat back pocket with the POH and emergency procedures Quote
jdrake Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 Ditto to Cruiser. I keep a single sheet in the plane where I log individual flights, VOR checks and oil added between changes. It's very helpful in terms of monitoring oil consumption at a glance. Quote
BigTex Posted June 8, 2012 Author Report Posted June 8, 2012 Actually, that sounds like a good idea to keep a seperate fuel/Oil log. Right now I note VOR checks/Oil and fuel in the notes on my flight log. Quote
Lood Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 Our local flight folio has columns for, among others, fuel and oil and it is compulsory for these to be logged. Quote
