After 4 months and a week, I finally got my baby back from the spa, well for a week, at least, before going back to be tweaked….

Went a little overboard on the makeover, but I do get the feeling of flying a brand new plane, including the smell from the leather interior.

Looks fantastic!!!!  And as an Aggie, I love the color choice.

Aggie maroon paint is hard to find.

Admire your initiative.  When I repainted my F, I contacted the flight lab at Mississippi State University (worked there in college) and got the official Bulldog color codes.  Repainted in Bulldog Maroon and White.  Finally getting around to converting the interior carpets to dark grey; another Bulldog primary color.  Now I've gotta get maroon paw prints back on my wheel covers.

Bird looks great @Jetpilot86. Curious, if you are willing to share, how many AMUs did this roughly cost you?

Paint was 32 AMU’s, the interior,if I recall correctly, was 10-12 more. I had this coincide with the annual and some other upgrades, so the work order is a mess.

Saw another Bulldog themed short body a few months back in KRFI at the fuel pumps.

I’m not a mechanic, but are you ok with these possible rub points?  It may take a while, but constant vibration and friction may cause a failure at some point.

@Jetpilot86 Very nice. Who did your interior and what was the scope of work? 10-12 AMUs sounds quite reasonable.

No doubt. I just got a quote for $12k just for doing my seats!

I paid $3,000 to have mine recovered with leather; he provided burn certificates. He knows what is required since he does work for one of the shops on the field. A couple of my friends have since gone and he's delivered on time and on budget.

Just new leather, my foam was still in good shape and he recommended just recovering. He's just off the field in Fort Myers, the name of the business is Gotcha Covered.

He does a lot of work for the Lexus dealership. I picked one of their leathers that he had sent to be treated so that we could get the burn certificates.

Depending on how shot the foam is cutting up some packing cloths or just getting the cotton batting will help not so gone foam.   Most all leather will pass the burn test depending on the dye, why did you have to treat it?  And technically you don't have to have burn certs since Mooney is CAR3.   It is more about what your IA is comfortable with for the next annual.

He has serial #27-0197. Every Bravo after -0183 had the factory fiberglass interior panels covered with Ultraleather, which hold up very well.

The factory covered the headliner panels in Eurostretch fabric which didn't hold up so well - the adhesive didn't hold well to the fiberglass. Usually after 10 years or so it had to be re-strecthed and re-glued or replaced, or better yet covered with Ultraleather.

So the price to do an interior on these airplanes (all Ovations, all Bravos after -0183, all J & K made in 1997-1998 and all Acclaims) usually involves just carpet and recovering the seats.

When shopping for any of these models the ones with the fiberglass interiors would be worth more since you're not dealing with yellowing Royalite panels.

Maxwell did the Paint and Interior. Recovered the glareshield.  If it was plastic, it was covered in leather, it was recovered. New carpet as well. Minor fit and finish issues had to be resolved after, but overall very pleased.

Seat leather was still in good shape so I deferred that for later.
