Matthew P Posted March 20 Report Posted March 20 Good Morning, On the newer Mooneys they have an electric gear override switch that allows them to raise the landing gear in the event of aircraft pitot static issue. Has anyone with a Pre-J aircraft modified their aircraft with this type of override switch since the manual retraction is not to be used to raise the gear ? V/r Matt Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted March 20 Report Posted March 20 The planes without the airspeed safety switch, have either a squat switch or nothing. Have you had issues with putting the gear up? Quote
MB65E Posted March 20 Report Posted March 20 I’ve thought about it. I know exactly what wire to jumper! The VEP airspeed pressure switch is only 2 wires. I would use a momentary switch. Easy mod. -Matt Quote
Aerodon Posted March 20 Report Posted March 20 The gear override switch has a light inside and is a momentary push switch that must be held to bypass the airspeed switch. I have some spare new switches with 'GEAR SAFETY BYPASS" engraved on the face. Also have some spare Mooney round button and labels for you if you want to do this mod. Quote

No I haven't...while doing my annual, one of the A&Ps mentioned it as they have only worked on newer mooneys with the switch...So that sparked my interest 1 Quote
