Aerodon Posted January 23 Report Posted January 23 I'm trying to help Tal out with a replacement Tacho for his M20J. It appears that the gauge is the same part number 880039-517 (2" electric), but my plane (M20K) has a sensor on the magneto and his has a tacho-generator where the cable drive is found on the engine. The Tacho part number matches my parts manual for my serial number. But I cannot find a part number for the sensor? Anyone know these B&D Tacho's well enough to know whether they are compatible with tacho generators and magneto sensors? Anyone know where to find the sensors in the parts manual or elsewhere? PT20J Posted January 23 Report Posted January 23 I removed a 2" 880039-515 B&D tach with a 880053-501 tach generator from my 1994 28V M20J. Both are for sale at Skyman Avionics 541-604-9573. You could check with Frank Crawford at Mooney to see if he has any compatibility info. Worst case you could replace the tach and generator both with the ones from my airplane which worked fine when removed. Quote
DC_Brasil Posted January 24 Report Posted January 24 I have recently removed an R-1-4-G30R270 Electronics International Tachometer from my 28V M20J. Quote

Wingover Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 I ended up buying @PT20J 's tach and generator (I guess he has enough money now to buy an Acclaim Ultra) . I wanted to thank @Aerodon for the time he took to try and find out the correct part number. Quote
ajudson Posted February 14 Report Posted February 14 I am also looking for a tach generator (0400-004 or 880053-501) if anyone else is looking to sell. Quote
Wingover Posted Tuesday at 09:21 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:21 AM Just following up on this in the hope it will help @ajudson and others. I spoke with Frank Crawford at Mooney and he sent me some drawings (attached). he also mentioned that Teledyne might be able to fix the B&D parts and Mooney advised customer to call 310-765-3600 ask for help. 1 Quote

I have the one the mounts on the side of the magneto. I suspect the other one is the more common 'tach generator' that mounts on the tacho drive? I have both th tachometer and sense, the wiring is the same, so maybe change both? Aerodon Quote
