Need help with an alternator

My alternator just went bad on my 1988 Money M20J 205SE that has a lycoming io 390 engine. The alternator was a prestolite 24V. Unfortunatly they dont make aircraft alternators any more. Does anyone know of a sutable replacement?

You can look for overhauled units on Aircraft Spruce. But, have you explored having yours repaired?

And did you (or your ia) make sure it’s definitely the alternator and not a bad field wire, voltage reg, or other wiring issue?

Call Aero Accessories in Van Nuys CA and ask Robert if they will overhaul it.

I'd try a local electrical/alternator shop first.    Lots of heavy equipment uses 24V systems, they're not uncommon.

You might try the overhaul path. Aircraft Electrical Components, Inc in Riverside, CA (recently re-located from Irvine) helped me with an alternator overhaul and magneto overhaul in the past year.  Ask for Cindy.
