Hello All, looking at joining the Mooney family but I’m new to flying (still working on PPL). I was going to go with an M20G I found in Muscatine, IA, but it has a very basic panel. It’s super clean inside and out though

On the other hand, I just saw an M20C pop up at KSFB (Sanford, FL) with a nice Dynon panel, but the rest of the interior is a bit beat. I’d like to get a thorough prebuy done in the area, does anyone have recommendations? It seems like a lot of the guys that I’ve found on other threads are enjoying retirement.

it seems like the plane has normally been serviced by Posada Aviation

Also, if anyone wants to chime in, do you believe this to be a fair price? Id like to get this under contract

I’m based out of Chicago (Schaumburg, 06C) if anyone knows good local mechanics as well. Looking forward to joining the family!

For local maintenance I’d highly recommend Jeff with Fly America out of DKB. He is very good with many years of Mooney experience.

My mechanic does travel prebuys (and owns a Mooney himself). Florida might be a bit out of his range, however, unless he’s up for a 6 hour flight. If you want to check PM me and I’ll shoot you his info.

PS - I need him to finish my upgrades first lol.

Good guy, sharp mechanic, and travels. He’s done prebuys for a number of buyers here.

I was starting down the same path as you a few weeks ago, I even went to go see that same G model. I'm planning on picking up my F tomorrow. I was initially looking at that C model, but it's been up for quite some time.

If you want to chat about the process of finding Mooneys, their mechanics, or anything else, just message me and I'll send you my phone number. I'd love to chat.

This is fantastic, I believe there was a gentleman here at 06C that used to service Mooney’s (Gene I believe was his name), but he’s since retired. Having someone at DKB is great!

Shot you a message, would love to hear more! I just saw this C go up for sale, and I thought the owner also said he just put it up for sale. Would love to know if that’s not the case. Congrats on the F as well!

MAKE SURE, you tell the seller that he needs to completely top off the tanks BEFORE you start the pre-buy so that you can check for leaks, I got hosed on this as the leaks were at the top side of the tank (Right Side) and I didn't find out till after the sale when I topped it off to fly it home.
