Can anyone confirm that the inflatable door seal was standard on all m20k 231's. My son and I are shopping and we've been told that door will leak if parked outside so you have to have a cover for it.  Can the inflateable seal be replaced at a reasonable cost with a regular door seal?

Inflatable door seals have never been installed by Mooney, or have ever been standard equipment.

The Bob Fields Inflatable Door Seal is installed through an STC:  https://aerocessories.aero/

A search of Mooneyspace shows a lot of information on this subject:

I just replaced the door seal on my 231 with a new non-inflatable seal.  It was previously a non-inflatable as well, but very old.    I doubt the new one will leak any time soon.  But there are many possible points for water to get inside the cabin and if you have to leave it outside I would recommend a cover regardless of what door seal you have.

My door seal was < $250 even including stripper for the old seal and new adhesive.   This is trivially cheap in the airplane world.  :)   The labor though...  Whew!   I spent probably 15 or 20 hours on this project.

I did search "door seal"

I find using google for search “door seal site:mooneyspace.com” more helpful than the MS integrated search.
