Check it out:

1968 Mooney Mustang - aviation - by owner - airplane aviation parts - craigslist

If you cannot open the link, here is what it says:

1968 Mooney Mustang M-22 PRESSURIZED 5-Seat Single Engine.
310/Hp Lycoming TIO-541, 222/kt Max speed at 25,000’ 1100-TTAF/E $125K

The ad doesn't say what, if anything, is needed to be airworthy, nor does it have any pictures. As much as I would like to have a plane with the performance of the Mustang, I am unlikely to purchase an M22 knowing there is next to no factory support. I am also unaware of a supply line on the secondary market for used parts which makes a purchase such as this potentially unwise. Thoughts?

The guys that own them don’t seem to feel that way, but if I recall correctly, the engine is somewhat orphaned.  I have never seen on in person, but everything that I have read suggests that its a very well built machine.

Don Maxwell has one in his hanger that I got to see as they were doing a restore project on it.  If anybody can keep a mustang flying it would be the Maxwells.  Give him a call he might have even done an annual on that very plane.  I was surprised at how big that turbo is on it and with the oleo struts it's a tall mooney in person.

It’s only 45 minutes away from me. Maybe I need to go take some pictures and post them here about 1 per week, just to mess with y’all. :D

I think some of the qualifications of a M22 owner would be first an evangelical desire to keep a rare Mooney flying.   If you want a pressurized plane to travel the country buy a Malibu or P210.

Second a lot of experience in aircraft maintenance and sourcing parts.  This is not a plane you can drop off at your neighborhood mechanic and pick it up the next week.

Last, a very high ability to navigate regulations and a talent for justifying minor changes as well as major alterations via 337s.
