So a ground test of the stall warning switch works… beeps no problem but when flying … nothing. Performed a bunch of power on and off stalls and the stall warning buzzer never went off. There seems to be one small spot where it hangs up but I can’t imagine that’s the sole cause. Any idea how much the part is to replace? I’m having the garmin AOA system installed (integrates nicely with the G3X) but I still want the stall warning switch operable.

It is.  And it is not cheap.

When mine stopped working (sounded all the time), I called Don Maxwell.  My issue was that it got bent (it is right by where line person will lean when fueling).  Don has an easy fix.

Btw I believe it's a required equipment, AOA indicator is not sufficient.

Yes, you are correct.

I'm not an expert but I had trouble with mine on my F about a year ago.  I believe there are several posts on Mooneyspace showing the switches taken apart.  There's a chance you can clean the contacts with spray without takin it apart.  I think that's what we did with mine and then remounted it.  Mine was triggering the horn continuously though; even on the ground; different problem.

The problem is, you need to remove it to clean it, and it is not easy to get to.

Maxwell has a way to pull on the blade and wiggle it to fix.  I had them do it at Mooney Max.

But mine was on all the time.  No matter what you did to the blade.  Not sure if not coming on is similar.

IIRC, the switch was around 2AMU.

Yes, it took two of us to get it out on my F for cleaning, but it only took 10 mins on the ramp in the blistering AZ heat.
