Alan Maurer Posted June 14, 2024 Report Posted June 14, 2024 Mooney People Found a small soft spot on wing walk near the top. about one half inch. Is this indicative of a fuel leak here. 2008 M20 R ovation. Thanks Alan
M20S Driver Posted June 14, 2024 Report Posted June 14, 2024 Most probably a leaking screw. This is from 2020 by @N201MKTurbo
Fritz1 Posted June 14, 2024 Report Posted June 14, 2024 yes, dig hole, find screw, take out, clean thread with tap drill, find new screw, seal with tank sealant or permatex, apply wing walk compound, let dry for 2 days, if you really want it to look like new spray truck bed line over entire wing walk, be sure to cover adjacent areas of airplane
buddy Posted June 14, 2024 Report Posted June 14, 2024 If you’re going to replace the factory screw just make sure the new screw is the same length, you definitely don’t want to replace it with a longer screw. I would just clean up the threads apply sealant and reinstall. 1
LANCECASPER Posted June 14, 2024 Report Posted June 14, 2024 Everything that's been mentioned and here's the sealant to use: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pnpages/09-28500.php
Alan Maurer Posted June 15, 2024 Author Report Posted June 15, 2024 Hi Everyone...thanks for the good advice.....ordered sealant...will just clean up factory screw Alan
Pinecone Posted June 15, 2024 Report Posted June 15, 2024 I had mine fixed a year or so again. But leaking again. I think it was all the in and out of the plane for the avionics upgrade
