The bottom card reader on my PFD is FUBAR'd - it won't release the card w/o pliers, and that wrecked the original card.  I now have a replacement card in its place, which is fine.

However, I'll have the same issue when the next update rolls along.  I don't see any option to crossfill or synch from the MFD, which I think is possible in many installations.  Garmin said it's a manufacturer-specific setting.

So my question: Is there anyone out there with an ovation or acclaim that has the crossfill / synch working on a G1000?  If so, could you tell me your software version and if there was any setup switch to throw?

Thanks in advance

I think that's specific to the version of G1000.    I keep some of the local CAP airplanes databases updated and the very newest ones will do crossfill, but nothing older than a few years if I understand the legacy correctly (none of our squadron aircraft will do it).  That said, I don't touch the lower card and only update the nav database on the upper card in both the PFD and MFD,  Since the cards seem to be rare-ish, we just leave the bottom cards alone rather than risk bricking a card and the airplane with it.

I don't know if that helps, but thought I'd throw it out just in case.

Yep. My flying club has three Diamonds with three different G1000 vintages. Only the most current NXi cross-fills the database.

And yeah, a lot of settings are manufacturer-specific :(
