exM20K Posted October 25, 2023 Report Posted October 25, 2023 The bottom card reader on my PFD is FUBAR'd - it won't release the card w/o pliers, and that wrecked the original card. I now have a replacement card in its place, which is fine. However, I'll have the same issue when the next update rolls along. I don't see any option to crossfill or synch from the MFD, which I think is possible in many installations. Garmin said it's a manufacturer-specific setting. So my question: Is there anyone out there with an ovation or acclaim that has the crossfill / synch working on a G1000? If so, could you tell me your software version and if there was any setup switch to throw? Thanks in advance -dan Quote
EricJ Posted October 25, 2023 Report Posted October 25, 2023 I think that's specific to the version of G1000. I keep some of the local CAP airplanes databases updated and the very newest ones will do crossfill, but nothing older than a few years if I understand the legacy correctly (none of our squadron aircraft will do it). That said, I don't touch the lower card and only update the nav database on the upper card in both the PFD and MFD, Since the cards seem to be rare-ish, we just leave the bottom cards alone rather than risk bricking a card and the airplane with it. I don't know if that helps, but thought I'd throw it out just in case. 1 Quote

And yeah, a lot of settings are manufacturer-specific 1 Quote
buddy Posted October 26, 2023 Report Posted October 26, 2023 I only update the PFD and MFD using the top slot. I have the 1st generation of the G1000. Quote
