Richie the C Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 KNS 80 out of our 1982 M20J. Not pretty, but worked right up to Jan 2023 when removed by an avionics shop for panel upgrade. Has tray and connector. Can ship with or without tray. $100 plus shipping. Quote

Richie the C Posted July 21, 2023 Author Report Posted July 21, 2023 I still have it. I haven't used it since it was removed in February for a panel upgrade, but it was working beautifully to that point. I went through several KNS 80's in my old Mooney and none worked very well. This unit locked right on to VOR, ILS, and DME every time. Ironic in that it was destined for removal. Rich 817 874 7866 Quote
Guest Posted October 2 Report Posted October 2 Good Afternoon, Is this still available? If so, would you accept $75 plus shipping? Thanks you, Dale Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted October 2 Report Posted October 2 I remember when those were the coolest thing ever. Then there was LORAN, then there was GPS. Quote

Thanks you, Dale You'll want to quote the seller's post or ping him so he's notified, otherwise it's doubtful he will check this older ad. Quote

My first KNS 80 experience was entering waypoints for mountain passes in Colorado. Had to be high enough for VOR line of sight, but, having not that long before flown nothing more sophisticated than two VOR receivers, it was better than sliced bread! 1 Quote
LANCECASPER Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 I was about 2/3 of the way through my PPL back in 1985 when I wanted to go to Iowa to look at a C-172 to buy. My instructor and I rented a C-172RG with a KNS80 to fly down there from North Dakota. I was lost while he was putting in waypoints, but by the time we got back I had it figured out. I'll always remember how he described it: "Slicker than snot on a doorknob" . . lol. 1 Quote
