jeckford Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 I have no affiliation with Flight Training, Inc however I recently had a great experience with these guys and thought it would be worth mentioning for future new Mooney owners. I recently purchased my first plane, a 1982 M20J. I am a 100 hour PPL and have only recently started flying again after a 20 year hiatus. I just completed my insurance required 10 hours of dual with Bob Cabe with Flight Training, Inc. Trey Hughes and Bob were an absolute pleasure to deal with. The transition training consisted of a full day of ground school reviewing the POH and different aircraft systems in detail. I then did 2 full days of flying, 5 hours each day. Even after such a long break from flying, I feel completely confident in my new Mooney. We visited 15 different airports and did 25 landings under different conditions. I had never used a GPS before (trained in the VOR days) and now feel confident using and love my G530W. A great experience and I highly recommend them for Mooney training. I have now flown 15 hours in the last 5 days and couldn't be happier with my Mooney and transition training. Mooneyspace has also been a great resource and I am thankful to those on this board for your advise and expertise. Quote
garytex Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Welcome, congratulations, and hope to see you around Central Texas some time. I base at Lakeway, but mostly just fly to Del Rio to go to work. Gary Quote
schule Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 John, I also did a BFR and IPC with Bob in early Feb. I needed to get back up to flying speed in a new to me M20F. It was a great experience. Did you all have BBQ at Llano? Hope you enjoy your new J. -Mark Quote

carusoam Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Bob Cabe is an excellent resource. He helped me with my transition to the M20R and refreshed my BFR about two years ago. Full disclosure: He was recommended to me by the fine people at AAA where I purchased the plane. Best regards, -a- Quote
rainman Posted February 28, 2012 Report Posted February 28, 2012 My experience with Bob Cabe was outstanding. I was introduced to him by a 201 owner at Boerne Stage, and when I bought my 231 in June 2011 Bob did my transition training. Very professional. If he's available, I recommend him to anyone in the Central Texas area. And yes, we did fly to Llano and stop at Cooper's. Ray Quote
