cliffy Posted February 11, 2023 Report Posted February 11, 2023 Didn't see anyone post about the Cirrus SR 22s owned and operated by Cirrus being grounded today Seems they are seeing counter weight problems in all the engines and decided to ground all their own airplanes. Quote
PeteMc Posted February 11, 2023 Report Posted February 11, 2023 There's a good chance that may affect some of the newer Mooneys or those that have had a Major recently. Quote
carusoam Posted February 11, 2023 Report Posted February 11, 2023 There is a thread already created for the Continental engine crowd… Fortunately, it seems to be a narrow range of engine production…. This one was posted by DMax… https://mooneyspace.com/topic/44745-tcm-engine/#comment-785056 -a- Quote
0TreeLemur Posted February 11, 2023 Report Posted February 11, 2023 When we considered model/engine options for our recent upgrade, Mrs. OTree and I agreed to stick with Lycoming. Quote
cliffy Posted February 11, 2023 Author Report Posted February 11, 2023 I brought it up here as it may have tentacles out to Mooneys eventually. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted February 11, 2023 Report Posted February 11, 2023 This thread came up a bit earlier… More directly to the engines, than the Cirrus itself… Word is getting out… -a- Quote
Pinecone Posted February 11, 2023 Report Posted February 11, 2023 Updated guidance is that engines over 200 hours are exempt and may continue to be flown. And Cirrus only grounded the airplanes they own and stopped delivery. They cannot ground planes owned by others. Only the FAA can do that. Quote
