I’ve heard folks playback audio after a mishap on here. How do I recover a recording? No mishap was involved.

Navigating the site takes a little figuring out, but it isn't bad.    If you're looking for something specific the hardest part is often finding the right time window for the recording.

Type in an airport identifier, and then for each channel near the bottom of the block is a link to "Archive Access" which has the recordings.

Note that they only keep archives of ATC recordings for 30 days. So if you want something that isn't pretty recent, they may not have it. 

I believe they do try to keep long-term archives of particularly notable events. But just regular day to day audio is kept for a month.
