I have no tank expertise but, if I had the option to turn the wing, I would redo both top and bottom covers.  Leaving decades-old sealer even on the covers doesn't sound like a good idea.

The plane is disassembled, I can turn the wing. How did you clean the top corners in the tank through the top hand covers and seal them with sealer?
